Thursday check in

Its almost Friday!! Yay :) for two reasons...its my last day of work, and im leaving for the Road Trip tomorrow. Some lucky people are leaving today and get to go to the early bird class. I still have to pack...

I didnt see my husband, he got stuck on a late call this morning. I did call him to check on him though. I got upset because he kept telling me i wont nurse, it'll be uncomfortable and it will hurt me (he and his ex had three kids already so i guess he knows more than i do right now). I got upset becuase i told him he is supposed to encourage it and not tell me i cant or wont do it. Its my first baby and our first. Sigh..i've always read that nursing is healthier and better. Plus, isnt that what God intended...thats why we have those extra body parts! Right?? well..maybe it will hurt or whatever. I dont know..

I'm babbling, its early and i still need to wake up :)

I hope everyone has a great day. See you all soon.

I started the same time as Jen! Ignore my start, here's what I posted:

I'm hoping or a good heavy, sweaty lifting session this morning! I've had to take 2 rest days this week and I'm gonna make up for it today!

Tonight, dinner at Mike's grandma's and a board mtg for preschool.

Everybody sleep good last night?

Jen, I'm so excited you get to go to RT tomorrow! Today will fly by! Good luck sleeping tongiht!

As far as nursing....sometiems it's hard, sometimes it's not. Different with every baby.
Gina took 6 WEEKS to latch on correctly and I was miserable but stuck with it.
Isabel (and & I) knew what to do right away and she was a nursing champ.

No, DH shouldn't discourage you from it. He's just going by his past experience but maybe his ex-wife didn't really want to and made excuses as to why she couldn't. It's a hot topic for sure, and I do NOT mean to offend anyone. BUt barring a severe medical condition there's no reason you won't be able to do it! Your hospital will have a lactation consultant available who will be more than helpful to help you establish a breastfeeding relaionship with your baby. Although I didn't like our local chapter of La Leche League, a lot of women find that avenue very helpful too. You can do it!

Morning ladies!
Jen-My dd lachted on immediatly and didnt leg go for 3 years! I never had a problem with pain etc. I am pro-nursing big time. I do have friends that found it very hard and did not like it though. I guess all you can do is try! Hey, its free too! My dd never once took a bottle, which if I did it again I would pump some so dh can help out some.
Im excited for you about the RT. Cant wait to hear all about it!
Kate-HI-whats on your plate today?

Thanks guys.. :) I know everyone and every baby is different. But im going to try dang it!
I suppose he didnt mean to upset me i just want some support that's all. This is all very new to me after all.

Dont worry Susan I will fill you in on my road trip experience when i return to work monday. HOpefully i'm not too sore to type :) I'm sure I will be fine.

im meeting some gals for lunch friday, possibly, before the meet and greet. How is the food Kate? yummy and plentiful?

Are there things available to buy that arent out yet? Im sure they take credit card lol. I didnt take out too much cash, just for my rapid rover. I should probably get more for lunch friday.

I hope you get your workout session in! Last nite I did Circuit Zone by Tracey Staehle, i really love that workout. But i wanted more cardio so i did the 30min step portion of High Intesity Step from the Four Day Split. I dont use the step routines often and wanted seomthign short as it was getting late and i still had to cook for today's dinner.

I wanted to workout tonite and pack and go to sleep but dad is coming over to take me to the airport by 5am tomorrow. So i don't think I will have the time.

I hope everyone has a great weekend - i wont be around to check in . im sure you will all 'see' me on the web shortly tho with all those darn pictures they take of everyone! i'll post my own pics once i get back too

Morning Susan! Normal house stuff today for us!

Jen, The food is 100% delicious! ITs' catered in and buffet style and I wish I could get it at home! I actually didn't buy anything while I was there but I'm sure they take ccs. Good job with your workout!

DDs are outside feeding Susie (yep, she's still around!) then I told them they have to comein so I can exercise. I WILL lift ths morning, dang it!

Have a great workout Kate! Im doing an oldie to day. Cardio Step Mix..I wish they would put it out on dvd. bbs

Hi! I am suffering with a terrible cold this am and have lost my voice. The kids will be so happy:rolleyes:. I don't know if its allergy related or what, but it stinks. I was so hoping to work out today. My parents just called at 6:50 am to tell me they will be stopping by here for lunch today (they live in HOuston). They never do this so I am wondering what the deal is. HOuston is 4-5 hours away.
Hi Kate, Susan (hows the babymaking?)JenM(have a great RT)and anyone to follow1

Susan, I don't have any of the VHS only stuff. Hope you have fun!

Mikkia, So sorry you're not feeling well. Hope all is okay with your parents. Let us know....

Power Hour is done! I skipped the lunges because they are just too uncomfortable on my pelvic floor right now. I felt really weak today - bummer. I thought about quitting a couple times but I just lightened my weight and finished. GLad I did. Hopefully I can do CS or some light cardio this afternoon.

HI!
Workout done!
Mikki-have a nice lunch with your parents. Im sure they just want to come see their favorite daughter:) Babymaking is going good. If I don't get preg its not for the lack of trying!!! For some reason I really think I ovulated early over the weekend and missed out. I wonder how the dr can tell I hadnt yet?? Not sure if I trust that.
Kate-youll have to take a pic of Susie for us. Glad you enjoyed your workout!
Jenm-are you feeling good today?
Hi Maggie, Jen, Candra, Stephanie, Melanie (we miss you) Morris, Kristin, and I just know I forgot someone. HI.

Hi ladies,
Jen--I know you're getting excited about the road trip!! One more day!! I'm excited for you!! As for the breastfeeding, I think your DH is just trying to prepare you for the possibility of it not working so you don't feel heaped with guilt if it doesn't work. I tried to breastfeed my first son, and he latched on, but he was a very big baby and a very hungry baby and wanted more than I could give. I wound up with bleeding and bruised nipples and literally could not do it any more. The lactation nurses were very mean and judgmental at my hospital, and I was SO guilt-ridden for weeks after switching to formula. Looking back on it, I am very glad I did switch to formula because Oliver had jaundice and recovered more quickly from it after I switched. But I don't think any mom should put that much pressure on herself. Yes, it's natural and healthy for the baby, but it's OK not to breastfeed. I didn't even try to breastfeed my second son because I didn't want to go through the same guilt if it didn't work again. I have two very healthy boys. And many friends who have breastfed their children have had very sickly babies, so I think that your child's health doesn't revolve around them breastfeeding. All this to say, yes, it's very good to be devoted to it. And I really hope it works for you, but if it doesn't there's NO shame in bottle feeding. No shame at all. :)

Kate--congrats on a great workout!! Have fun at grandma's house tonight!

Susan--I'm crossing my fingers and toes that this week is a "productive" week. I think that there are lots of "warning signs" when you are about to ovulate. They are very subtle and maybe your doc picked up on them. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he did!!

Mikkia--Sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope that you get to feeling better so you can enjoy lunch with your parents. They probably just miss you and want to spend some time with you. :)
--------

Well, it's supposed to rain here today, so it will be an inside-day. I will do some laundry and straighten the house. And hopefully finish the book I'm reading. It's SO good. The boys will do art work and play games, maybe watch a movie. I love a good rainy/lazy day! :)

Good job on the workouts Kate and Susan - much better than my lets sit at a desk and take reports all day workout :)

Thats great to hear the food is delicious. MY husband takes the digital camera to work to photograph evidence. he is leaving right when i get home so i hope he remembers to take the camera out of his patrol car! And i hope i remember to remind him when i get home. Even if i do forget it seems like a lot of people take and share pictures anyway.

mikki i hope you have a nice lunch with your parents today.

Morning girls!

JenM, I am excited to hear all about the road trip:) I never had any problems breastfeeding. My boys both latched on from the start. It is hard in the begining no matter what b/c you are constantly nursing. I wanted to give up a few times with my first. I ended up nursing both of them for two years and I am so glad I did. Another benefit is I never had a period while I was nursing so I basicly went 3 yrs without a period!!

Kate, good job with the workout. I know what you mean with the lunges if I do any it is definitely with no weights.

Mikkia, sorry about the cold. Have a good afternoon with your parents.

Susan, I really hope you are getting pg this week;) Your new doctor sounds great! I love my doctor he is male too. I thought I would prefer female also, but my doctor with Wilson couldn't wait to induce me as soon as my due date hit so she could control when I went into labor. It was miserable. My doctor I have now wouldn't induce me with Owen even when I was overdue he said labor is so much easier if it comes naturally and he was right.

Stephanie, what book are you reading? I love to read, but I am absolutely useless to my family when I am b/c I can never put my book down. My dh says 1 book a month. Did you say your kids start school next week? My kids start the 18th.

Hi Jen, Maggie, Kristan, Lisa and Trish!

I have been really busy this week. We got the baby's furniture delivered Tues! I can't believe it is getting so close. We still have to paint, but I want to have the bedding first and my MIl ordered that for me so who knows when I will see it.

I have to go and buy the boys new school shoes and some more uniforms for Wilson. I can't believe summer vacation is almost over:( I really enjoy having them home.

I am going to feed the boys breakfast and do Tracey Stahele kickboxing.

Candra

Susan, He could maybe tell be the position of your cervix.

Stephanie, I love rainy days too. SOrry the nurses treated you so bad re the breastfeeding! That stinks!

Jen, I hope you get your camera!!

Candra, I took a long time to get my periods back too. Glad I'm not the only wuss when it comes to lunges!!! IT's never been a favorite exercise, but even more dreaded now! The 18th is around the corner....I'm dreading school starting. Can't they stay this age forever?! yay to getting the furniture! You'll have to take a pic when its all done. I just got a phone call from our painter - he's starting tomorrow. Have a fun WO!

------
Well, Gina says she has a sore throat so not sure on dinner at Grandma's. I'm not too disappointed. shhhhhhhhhhh...I don't really like her cooking anyway! Bad granddaughter I am!

Gina's actually asking to nap...better go! bbl.....

Kate I hope Gina feels better. I love the name Gina. You dont hear it very much these days.
Candra-have a great workout. I have that workout but have not tired it. I got it right before my neck went out on me. I will be able to try it soon.

Stephanie-its finally raining here too! Have a relaxing day.

My dh loves bacon and I never make it because it makes the house smell etc. When I do make it I make a huge batch and freeze it. I never fry anything. Anway, I am being a good wife and makin bacon today. I bake it on a broiler pan and that helps on the mess. He also said something about wanting fried chicken..so I MIGHT do that tonight. Poor man..never gets the good fattening stuff.

Susan- I bake my bacon in the oven at 350 on a jelly roll sheet. No grease splatters or stinky house!

Candra- my kids don't start until 8-25. Remind me when you're due? And with your fourth? I love getting new baby products. I feel so guilty most of our baby stuff is GROSS so it is especially fun to update my collection. I tossed all of our bottles and had to buy a new carseat (ours had expired) but that's about it. boring.

Jen- i agree with what the others said about BF. I was definitely awkward with nursing my first, but she and I picked it up quickly. It is a learned skill for sure. But worth it- cheap, easy and no bottles to mix. I only went to about 10 months for each kid. They always lose interest.

Kate- I am off to do weedmax in my yard. it is ridiculous out there. Our weather is very nice today and all of the kids are out of the house.

Mimi is 1 month old today and her coal black hair shows no signs of lightening up. She was almost 11 pounds last week.

I did a little Bento medley- cardio pump hi-lo and parts of ASC2.

Kristan, I am due 10-18 with my third boy! I buy the cribs that turn into full size beds so I have had to buy new furniture with each baby. After my second I gave all my stuff(swing, bouncy seats, infant carseat etc) to my sil who had a boy 9mos after me and she never returned anything. When I asked her about it she said she gave it all to her sister and it was long gone. So I am having to start over with this one. It is actually kind of fun but expensive.

I got my workout in but then I ate brownies left over from last night. I am going to try and eat good the rest of the day. I really need to go to the grocery store but it is so hot. We might just go swimming and I can go shopping after dh gets home from work and I can go by myself. It is faster and cheaper that way!

Candra

Susan. I never make fried stuff either - he can get it at a restaurant if he really wants it! I do make bacon though for him and I do it the same wayKristan does. Takes about 30 minutes and cleanup is a breeze! Thanks for the compliment on Gina's name. We like it!;)

Kristan, Mimi sounds beautiful! POst a recent pic if/when you can! Have fun weedmaxing. I'm so glad I got mine done - DH is too - he usually tackles the outside stuff and I do the inside. That way neither one of us complains the other isn't doing their share.

Well, Gina still isn't feeling super but DH is insisting we go to his grandmas anyway. Men! Oh well - he's the one who will have to bring them home and get them to bed. I'm leaving from Grandmas for a board meeting. Sucker!!!!!:p

Better get going -

Candra, You snuck in on me! Was this 3rd baby a surprise for you too? We most definetly weren't planning it but I am so thankful she's coming. Sorry you don't ave anything from the other boys. That stinks. I have given quite a bit away over the last few years. Some have returned stuff. Of the returned stuff, some of it I wouldn't put an animal in! What are people thinking returning stuff covered in BLOOD!? ....Oh, man, do your brownies sounds good! I've got a wixked sweet tooth this afternoon so I made some chocolate milk. Hope that tides me over. And grocery shopping is def. cheaper and easier without the kids in tow!!! Have fun!

Kate, this pregnancy was planned, but after a long time of really not knowing if we wanted another one or not. I am really happy but sometimes I freak out like what did I get myself into. I think that is normal though. What did someone return that was covered in blood? That is so gross!

Candra
