Hey Everyone,

I am so looking for some sugguestions here...I had a fantastic little girl 3.5 months ago and did really great only gained 26 lbs! It has been really easy to loose, I hoped right back up on the wagon pretty quick after giving birth and have been working very hard. 4 days of cardio, 1 day pyramid upper, 1 day pyramid lower and 1 day muscle endurance....however....I can't seem to shead those last few pounds.
I eat pretty good (ok yes I have a few cookies here and there) but keep the meals mainly clean and about every 4 hours during the day and drink lots of water. I had a girl and gained a lot around the hips and man that is really hard to loose! So, anyone have any sugguestions on how to shead these pounds?

I feel for you. I had a girl 12 weeks ago today. I only gained about 28 pounds and lost most of it almost immediately. But 10 pounds have stuck around and the scale hasn't moved in about 2 months. My diet isn't perfect, but it's pretty good. And I exercise at least a few times a week pretty intensely. I chalk it up to breastfeeding--some women keep a few extra pounds on until they wean. Or at least I have heard that--I sure hope it's true and not just a lame excuse on my part. I love nursing but I am looking forward to weaning her not only to get my body back (and to get to drink coffee again), but also to lose these last few pounds.

Hi and congrats to both you ladies. I agree that for some the body holds onto to those last few pounds for breastfeeding. With dd#1 my body held onto 5 pounds until she weaned herself at 9 months. At this point, I lost the 5 pounds plus some. I can't tell you yet about preggo weight with #2 since I am due in 3 months. If I was you ladies, just continue what you are doing and remember its only been 3 months since you gave birth.

As the others mentioned, for some women it is hard to lose the last few pounds while breastfeeding. What has been working for me to lose the baby weight has been zigzagging my calories. It keeps my body from hitting a plateau. Here is how it works, 2-3 days will be low in calories and then I will have a day with higher calories. Then I will repeat the cycle. I'll be happy to give you more info if you are interested. I've been following this for the past 6 weeks and plan to continue to do so until I'm at my goal weight. Within the first 4 weeks I lost 10 pounds and 11 3/4 inches and the weight is still coming off.

Hi Kristi,

I just wondered if you are still bfing while zigzagging? I've read a little about it, and actually have my calorie needs calculated if I did the zigzag type diet, but I'm afraid it will negativley affect my milk supply. Do you add some calories for milk production?

My body also held onto about 10 lbs. with my first, and now with my second the weight has been coming off painfully slow. I've been working out for months now with no real change on the scale. I have to just keep telling myself that I'm working out for ALL the health benefits..not just to lose fat.

Any way, I would be interested to know how you calculated your calories, etc.

Thanks,
Lindzebird

I follow the caloric intakes from www.freedieting.com. Click on Calculators, Daily Calorie Needs. Enter in your age, gender, weight, height, & exercise level, then hit calculate. Below where your caloric needs come up there is “Show 7 day calorie cycle (zigzag)”. Click on that for your daily zigzagging caloric intake. They will show you two sets of zigzag numbers, one for regular fat loss and one for extreme. I’m assuming the regular fat loss is for ½ - 1 pound loss and the extreme is for 1 ½ - 2 pounds. I follow the extreme right now. However the closer I get to my goal weight the more I will have to follow the regular fat loss because I don’t want to go lower than 1200 calories. Due to working fulltime and DD not sleeping through the night yet, I’m too exhausted to fit in a full hour workout at night as I have been accustomed to so I follow the no exercise calorie numbers. I do try to fit in 30–35 minutes of exercise during my work lunch hour whenever possible. Also, I don’t eat less than 1200 calories on my low days. I’m too hungry if I go lower than that and my body is still losing weight without going lower. Finally, I track my progress and food on my fitday program. They do have a free website, www.fitday.com, that you can use to track your calories & exercise. However, I really love the program because I can track my body measurements as well.

Lindezbird - Unfortunately, due to time constraints and my work schedule I've never been able to breastfeed with either of my kiddos. I think if you were to follow this you would need to add in more calories, maybe 400-500 or so, because your body needs it. Don't cut yourself too short on calories. You may need to play around with the numbers to see what works for you. Sorry I'm not much help.

Best wishes,

HI! Congrats, girls rock!!

Give it time, it's only been 3.5 months, it'll totally melt away. Keep up the good work and you'll wake up one morning and be like "nice work!" Give yourself a few more months, I PROMISE.
My first was a girl and I gained 45 pounds!! Starting from 108! It all came off, ALL OF IT, from doing Cathe. I was shocked and so impressed. So I'm now a Cathe fan for life;-) I had cookies too. But I cut out chocolate as soon as I had her, that was a very bad craving I had all the time. hee hee
Enjoy that sweet lil chickee:D
