I dutifully took the day off on Tuesday so that I could lie down and rest post-amnio. The ultrasound technician started off by determining the baby's age based on head size and thigh bone length. It came out a 16 weeks, 3 days -- just two days older than the actual age.
Then the doctor did the procedure, which hurt just a tiny bit. I was more nervous watching the image of the needle in my uterus on the ultrasound screen.
I got to sit up, and he reviewed some of the things that we'd get results for in 10-11 days or so. "And the sex too" I added. The ultrasound tech said "Did you want to know the sex? I didn't even look for that. Lie back down and we'll get another look!"
So, in about five seconds she was able to point out that...it's a boy!
"Looks like you have a golf partner for life!" I told DH. Now if I can just get him to stop calling his son "Buddy."
