This spring sucks - asthma keeping me from doing my best

Anyone else feeling this vent??? My childhood asthma has come back to haunt me. Last spring was my last real battle with asthma since high school. I ended up in the ER with an asthma attack and couldn't find my inhaler that I had around for just in case. Well this spring it's back...sucks. I'm going to the dr today to get on something other than Albuteral that I've been taking several times a day for almost two weeks now. I went to workout at the gym yesterday and ended my elliptical workout in hacking coughing fit (the beginning of many of my episodes) Yeah that looked really great. I told my DH I felt like an invilid and a morron for even trying to workout. Sigh... hopefullly I can get something to kill this so I can get back into my workouts....

If this is you too, I feel for ya!

Julie, I'm right with you on this topic. My childhood asthma reoccured following a bout of bronchitis a couple years ago. I now take Singular and Advair daily, although the doctor gave me a once a day inhaler to replace the Advair. This spring has been rough though. I've been wheezier this past month or two than I have for a long time. DH suggested it may be due to high pollen counts. Whatever it is, I don't like it. You need to see your doctor though. Medication to control asthma has changed since the old albuterol only days.

I've never suffered from asthma but I do have problems with seasonal allergies and this spring has been bad...very baaaaaad! I can hardly stand to go outside.

I'm really sorry for all you asthma and allergy sufferers! I do agree that the pollen has been really bad this spring. It likes to blow into my eyes and get under my contacts. OMG, that is pure agony.

My asthma is real bad this week. Seems to be worse this week than before. It is horrid. I am on Singulair and Zyrtec and use Maxair for workouts. While I do like to cooler temps, I hate not being able to catch my breath.

I've heard that this year is one of the worst for allergies. I am on my third antibiotic from a sinus infection caused because my allergy meds don't seem to be doing the job anymore!

Usually my allergies are just an annoyance, but this spring has been horrible: my sinuses are stuffed every day all day, and I'm waking up congested. I'm actually taking all my allergy meds for once without skipping them (Claritin and Flonase), and it's just barely helping. Still, in the past my allergies have moved on into asthma, and that hasn't happened yet. But it's one of the worst allergy seasons I can remember so far.

I have suffered from asthma my whole life. The last two year's it has been at its worst. One year ago my Dr. put me on Advair 250/50 one puff twice a day and singular as needed. It helped , but I still needed to use my inhaler all the time. Where as several years ago I didn't have to carry it with me. It made it impossible to workout with my Cathe DVD's. I had no cardio or endurence.
I have found the answer to my prayers, my asthma doesn't exist anymore. And I have more musclar strength, and cardio output than I ever experienced in my life. If you want to know what I did you can email me at [email protected]
:D

Hey Julie, I hope your md's appt goes okay. I'm 42 and have been fighting the asthma battle since I was seven. Thankfully, as I have gotten older, the whole asthma treament world has improved so much. I have gotten better with age (like a fine wine, heehee). I have a great doc here in Az, and now I feel my asthma is well under control, but I have no doubt that I will be taking Advair for the rest of my life(the best drug I have ever been on) But my heart goes out to you and I hope that the doc can find out what is going on....maybe somekind of URI....I hate not being able to breathe.....Take care,

Donna
