Things About Ourselves/Bodies We Love!!

Cathlete
Okay guys,
After probably spending way too much time on Cathe :) and reading all of the posts about cellulite and droopy bodyparts, I have decided to start a new thread-not to say we don't need each others and Cathe's advice about such things, but its good to balance body angst with a little body love, right?:7
So let 'er rip! What do you love most about yourself?
Me first, since I started this thread:7

Here goes, I love the fact that I have stuck with my workouts over the years and have kept my body strong and healthy.
I love my calves, they are strong and muscular and look great in heels!:)
I love my shoulders, they are wide but capable, and lastly, lest I appear a tad bit vain, I love that, at the end of the day, I can look in the mirror, (facing forward, not backwards  )and like what I see, inside and out!:7 Oh, and I make a mean matzo ball soup!
Next....

What a great idea! It's so easy for us women to bond over our insecurities, but we should try to celebrate our assets too! I know it's not easy to "brag", but I think we just need to practice. Sooo...here's what I like about myself:

I have perfect teeth. They're straight and white and make for a nice smile. :) Another smile thing: I have cute dimples (dimples on your FACIAL cheeks are good right?) I love having long eyelashes and not needing to wear mascara every day. My mom and DH are obsessed with my hands because they still look very babyish (I'm 29!), and I've finally come to appreciate this about myself. And overall, I am so grateful that I am so healthy and strong. My body does everything I ask of it, and I love that!

Fun thread!
I'm 45 and still get carded - I love that! Was thought to be my son's wife recently... Oh my:eek:
I have to drink wine or I lose weight. :7 :7
I can work in the hot sun all day with the best of them. Raced mountain bikes on a dare from my youngest son and won by a landslide! Beat half of the men!:7
Am so lucky to have good health and appreciate what it takes to keep it that way!

I love that I still have to do a double take when I see myself in the mirror. I don't recognize myself after losing almost 70 lbs! I love that I can see my collar bones now! I love seeing muscle definition in my shoulders! Lastly, I love that I have my ankles back (NOT cankles!!)!!!:7

I love my sense of optimism and humor. I get down, like everyone does, but it rarely lasts for long. I bounce back pretty quickly and try to make the best of things. I kind of like my shoulders. They are the first body part where I noticed any real muscle definition.

I love that my body is strong enough to heft whatever needs hefting, in the past few weeks I've moved, by myself, a washing machine, too many heavy boxes of books and I can still hold and rock my 100 lb 12 year old 'baby' (I don't do it often, but it's nice to be able to when she wants to be babied).:) I love my upper abs and the endurance in my arms. I love that I encounter everyone from ditch diggers to 'high powered' executives in my work and can find common ground and make easy conversation with anyone.

Take Care
Laurie:)

I am having a "down" day, I am facing reality. Okay, here goes, I have put on some weight. There, I said it.

So, I do like that I have made some changes to my arms in the past few months. They are larger than I want them to be, but strong.

I have been told I have nice hair. Does that count?

Sally

I've always had a butt issue, but, after working out for a few years, it's looking good. I also like my boobs. I'm 50 and they're still shaped nicely and perky.

Now my problem areas are my stomach and waist...can't seem to control the midsection anymore. (see thread on what body part I hate to workout most for possible explanation).

This is a wonderful thread!
Amy, I'm envious of those teeth of yours!
Charlotte, WOW!!! Somebody thought you were your sons wife??
Other Amy: Congratulations on your transformation!
Robin, I would have said the exact same thing about you. I love those things about you too!
Laurie, you totally rock!!
Sally, yup, hair counts and weight doesn't ;)
TeTe, no bad stuff allowed on this thread, girlfriend ;)

I have to think about mine. Will be back.
Nancy

Great thread!

Firstly, Sally does have gorgeous hair-I've seen it:) As for me, I love my ability to make people crack up, especially when they're really feeling down. I love that I've been able to give birth to 3 healthy DDs and that my body has been strong enough to bounce back, in better shape, each time-thanks Cathe:) And I like my naturally curly hair (most of the time, anyway!) Good thing too, cause I have no idea how to style hair! And when I'm at my fittest, I like my triceps and back.

Wow, that felt good. Thanks!

Well, I think I've got great legs even though they're a bit thicker than I'd like. I've always liked my chest too. I loved them when I was an A cup, and when I gained 50 pounds and they swelled to a D cup, I still thought they looked fabulous. I've also got nice shoulders, hands, ears, eyes, and lips.

What I like about my personality is that I am tenacious, honest, and outspoken. I'm also quite resourceful.

First and foremost, I have to say that the things I like best about the way I look are the things I hated most when I was young. I had a big, round face and wild, thick coarse hair, both of which embarassed me to no end. My Mom always told me that someday I would appreciate having a youthful face. As I've grown older and my face has matured, I see what my Mom meant. Also, I can't believe I now love the hair that tortured me so when I was a child! I also didn't like being short when I was a teen, but now I really like being compact and being able to fit into seats on the subway that many others can't. I think I like these things best just because I used to hate them so much. To me, they represent that I've come to appreciate myself just the way I am. I think that's really important for everyone.

:7 :7

Gee that felt pretty good!!! thanks!!:7

I love that my body forgave me for letting it get to over 200 pounds with each pregnancy and allowed me to give birth without drugs both times.

I love that I could trust my body enough to give birth to my second daughter at home in my own bed.

Thanks to Cathe I love how my body looks more at 38 than I did at 20 - especially my shoulders "shoulders back, chest out, you look so good!"

I love my saggy breasts that fed my babies and my wrinkled belly that held them. (Although if I could afford it, that wrinkly belly would be gone :))

I love the feeling I get when my DH looks at me with awe at the changes I have made in the last year and says "You're so HOT!" especially when I know he thought I was just as hot at the height of my pregnacies! :)

Thanks for the pick me up!

I am going to try to come out of the shadows more and not lurk so much.

Doesn't this feel great?? I know it motivates me to approach my workouts and everything else with a new appreciation of myself! Thank you so much! And I am having a PMS week....
Please keep adding as needed!

I love that we are focusing on the good!:7

This is a nice thread, thanks for posting it. :)

OK, 3 things for me:

1) my proportion--everything on my body matches. I whine a lot about being built like a teenaged boy but bottom line is, even tho my shoulders & lats are a little too big for clothes to fit quite right, but while I don't have curves all my bodyparts seem to measure just right when it comes to size. Except my mouth, which apparently is much larger than the rest of me.

2) my hair. My crowning glory, my pride & joy, what I spend the most time & money on.

3) my work ethic. I'm very ambitious & energetic, & when I set my mind on something I can usually make it happen.

I love that I finally have ability to know and feel God’s love. I am not lost no more. I love that although during the difficult times, I can still see the light and gives me smile and peace.

I love that I found Cathe and has not given up all these years and gained the knowledge and wisdom to pull myself back on track when I have slow down.

I love that I have family and friends who I care for and love.

Thanks for letting me share.

:) :) :)
