They just don't get it........

After having my second child 3 months ago, I am really cranking my workouts into high gear. Prior to becoming pregnant almost a year ago, I was in the BEST physical shape of my life thanks to Cathe and the things I have learned from this forum. I have pretty much ALL of Cathe's workouts except the Bodyblast series (I do have Timesaver). I am about to order the other Bodyblast DVD's. I was telling my husband this last night and he looked at me and said "WHY do you need to order any more workout DVD's? You have 400 already?". Now of course I don't have 400, but I just looked at him like he was from another planet. I told him that he needed to be THANKFUL that I was spending MY money on this and not sitting on the couch and eating bon-bons. I

I had to share this with all of you....I thought it was funny (although I was a little irritated with him). Until someone experiences firsthand a Cathe workout (with the creativity and endorphin rush they are sure to experience), they won't understand the addiction and NEED to obtain MORE WORKOUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew that all of my fellow Cathe followers out there would understand this addiction and feel my pain.

Have a great weekend!!!!
Jessi:) :)

Hi Jessi! :)

Oh boy, can I ever relate to this! :) I can't ever seem to stop either...I'm finally to a point where I almost have everything of Cathe's with the exception of Cardio Hits and the Classics...it's just a matter of time before those are mine too!! LOL

My DH says the same thing when I want to order a new dvd. Here are my reasonings. He spends at least $20 a week on beer, I spend lately, about $100.00 a year on workouts. I feel that I deserve to treat myself with something that I enjoy. Plus if I joined a gym I would spend about $45 a month on workouts, so really, he should feel lucky that I found something that I enjoy that is less expensive. We've discussed this before and his comeback wasn't much, he just said "ok, you have a point." He couldn't argue with me about it.
Plus I'm doing something good for me, and he likes the results, so we both win, really.
There you go, your arguement the next time Dh complains about you buying more dvd's to workout with.

Same boat here! And I can totally relate to the beer thing. I get the same deal if I buy myself a new sweater or something (which I ALWAYS get substantially marked down). Funny how they don't count the money spent on beer as a waste.

To keep the peace, though, I've resorted to only getting the workouts for birthdays or Christmas. Actually, the last ones I bought were as my reward to myself for completing my pregnancy and delivering my daughter - all without gaining more than 20 lbs! Believe it or not - I did get a negative reaction from the old ball and chain when I did, too. That was 4 years ago.

Same boat too.Everytime I recive something by mail my parent says :¿Is it something new of your friend cathe isn't it?

Congratulations on your babies and on getting back into the workout world so quickly. Keep ordering, keep working and don't let anyone discourage you. I know it's hard to get our hubbys to understand the Cathe addiction, but yours will come around...mine sure did. He KNEW he was going to lose anyway.

It's funny because my DH is usually quite uptight about money. He thinks I should sell most of my workout tapes (NOT Cathe!) & I probably will sell some of them. However, he's never said anything about Cathe workouts other than to ask (when I preview) "is this new? Is it fun? Where's Cedie? Where's Rhonda? Where's Brenda with the biceps? Cathe looks more pumped than ever!" etc. Which amazes me. He must sense there's no point in trying to curtail me! I think he's grown fond of Cathe & the Crew...a Cathe workout is one of the few things which will make him look up from the Washington Post! LOL

I did tell him once how much I saved by ordering pre-sale, but he hadn't asked.

Of course he likes the results too.

Wow! Congratulations on another baby! It is truly awesome that you are working out so soon after having a baby. My DH who is a dear sweet man said the unthinkable yesterday. After 15 years for the first time he commented on my weight. "Uhh you arms and legs have been looking a little dimply lately."
Now I admit that i have neglected to workout for several months and have gained about 15 lbs on my 5'4" frame. He actually did me two favors. One,he erased all guilt I had for purchasing $400.00 worth of cathe the night before. While buying the new series I thought i would replace some of my vhs with DVD and hence the whopping bill. I was feeling rather guilty but after that comment I only wished I had replaced all of my VHS. Second, it was just the motivation needed to workout, which promptly did yesterday wich promptly was followed by those headaches that others have mentioned.
However, keep working out, keep buying those new Cathe's and most importanly, keep feeling good:) :)

My husband (who is about as indulgent about any of my whims as a man can be) has moved to a posture of affectionate and resigned acceptance regarding me and my Cathe.

I'm in a pretty good rationalization posture myself for two reasons: #1 I'm a group fitness instructor who does the workout as well as leads it, thus I'm saving hundreds of dollars of gym fees each year AND getting paid for it; and #2 I have an awesome employee benefit through the county authority where I work in that I can cash in the value of my accrued sick leave hours to be reimbursed for fitness-related expenses - including DVD's.

BTW - the beer comparison is classic. Why is it that when HE fritters money away it's okay but when WE "fritter" money away it's . . . well, frittering?

I'm fortunate in that my husband is very supportive of my "Cathe habbit". He thinks it's great that I work out as much as I do, and he realizes that it's primarily due to Cathe. He actually hopes that new stuff comes out every year because it makes it very easy on him at gift-giving time. He even arranged for me to take a live kickboxing class with Cathe and he went along with me. (He didn't take the class but rather worked out in the gym). He is very much into working out too, so perhaps that's why he's so supportive. His only concern is that if I have too many Cathe workouts, I won't be able to fit in Slow and Heavy into my rotation as often as I should!

I just got CTX and PUB/PLB delivered, my DH took the package from UPS for me. I said defensively "I don't belong to a health club and this is my one activity when the kids are in school" etc etc He said "I didn't tell you that there was a problem" I said "In that case, I'd like to order the Hardcore series for the holidays!" He said "Why are you even telling me that? You'll just order them anyway" with a smile. Yay!:)

Ya gotta love a man who knows when it is useless to put up a fight:7

As I was reading the posts, it was as if I had typed them!:)

The beer thing - Heck I should be able to order everything on my wish list now when considering the money that he spends on beer in a year!;)

The comment about-"Why are you even telling me that? You'll just order them anyway" - My husband has used this exact line (and more than once I might add)!!!:)

Finally, my husband is beginning to appreciate my addiction to Cathe and working out. He has learned that when I feel better about myself he is able to reap the benefits;) Therefore, when I'm happy - he's happy;-):+

Boo Boo- I noticed you're new to the group-welcome and looking forward to hearing more from you.

I've been buying Cathe's workouts since before I married my DH so he doesn't really have a say! But he's into fitness and is supportive of it anyway (we actually met at the health club where I'm a group fitness instructor). Plus, he's got a little "thing" for Rhonda...the other day he was thumbing through Cathe's catalog and asked me when Rhonda was going to release a workout series!!;-)
