The Twilight Sky

I normally work nights but I'm on vacation now. Is it just me or is tonight's twilight sky the loveliest thing? I love a crescent moon this time of year, when the leaf-less trees look like stiff-bristled brushes against a sky of oranges, pinks and lapis blues. And there's a bright planet (I forget which one) above the moon, like a diamond accent. Lovely.

Stacey,

I love reading your posts, it's like reading a short story. You have a very pleasant way with words.

Love looking at night skies, in my hot tub, outside with 360 degree view. Yes, even in the snow, rain, sleet. Love it! Love it!

How nice of you to say that. Thank you.

I used to say I'd never have a hot tub but when a co-worker messed up his back he said he practically lived in his. He said he bought his as strictly a vanity purchase, when they first came on the market, but that those little jets offered so much relief when he needed it. I think about that every time I get a tight spot in my back and am forced to take ibuprofen for relief. Yea, twilight in a hot tub, sipping a cup of tea, looking up at the moon, the stars, and the planets. Yea. That would be awesome any time of year.

One night I was talking with a bunch of co-workers about how much I miss the twilight sky but, since most of them were from the next shift, they didn't get what I thought was so great about it. I said it was because they always see it before coming in to work so they take it for granted. Yea, I love that sky and a crescent moon never fails to take me back to when I was a little girl getting a kitchen sink bath from my dad, while looking up at it. It's such a symbol from childhood. I even remember the little crescent shapes cut into the shutters of an old house I always looked for on my daily school bus rides, when I was a little girl and we lived way out in the country. Last time I checked the house still stood but the crescent moon shutters were long gone. What a shame.
