The TRUTH about Aspartame

It seems like this is an ongoing debate: is it good in small amounts or should you avoid it completely? I have about 12 oz. of Crystal Light per day, which has aspartame, so I have been getting a little worried lately. I know that it isn't the BEST thing you can put in your body, but is it okay in moderation? Does it affect your weight or health despite its noncaloric properties? Thanks for your help!

IMO opinnion I would say it's probably fine in moderation. I used to eat lots of non-fat yogurt that contained aspartame and I never came across any health issues related to it at all...JMO though!

I don't know if this is the best place to get the info you are looking for...too many differences of opinnion here I think. I would say go research it on the internet and form your own opinnion if you are really concerned.

HTH!:)

If all you're having is one drink a day that contains aspartame then I wouldn't worry about it at all. Aspartame has been around for AGES! I might be concerned if you were consuming large quantities of diet drinks and yogurt on a daily basis, but if you're truly only having one per day then don't sweat it. If you're really worried about it you can easily find an alternative, but like Wendy said, minimal to moderate use shouldn't pose any problem.

I agree that posting a question like this on the Cathe forums will probably get you more answers than you'll know what to do with, possibly making you feel even MORE confused--LOL! The debate is fun and educational;).
