The tornadoes are coming...

....'tis the season for severe weather in Central Illinois (Sabrina, you know what I'm talking about!). Tornado warnings to the west of us, and that same wall of storms is headed right for us, and I'm sure we'll have our share of tornado warnings too. *sigh* One of these days I'd actually like to SEE a tornado (from a distance, of course!). Today could be my lucky day! I would be a storm-chaser, but those long road trips with no bathroom breaks would kill me. So I have to wait for the weather to come to me. :p

Anyone else enjoy watching severe weather?

we just had tornado warnings in upstate ny on monday. Luckily we just had 70 mile per hour winds and severy thunder/lightning storms. the town just above me got a little tornado action instead

I am terrified of tornadoes! If I hear of a warning my heart beats out of my chest. An ordinary storm doesn't bother me, but if tornadoes are possible I am a wreck. My husband says I need to overcome that. I say everyone has something they are afraid of. It could have something to do with when I was 14 and babysitting my brothers a tornadoe hit and we had to get into a closet. It did some damage to the yard and took up a huge oak tree but the house was okay.

So no storm chasing for me. I would rather be put in a room full of snakes!

I like weather. From a distance. Or on TV. It's power is quite awesome, in the true sense of the word.

Right now it's thundering and raining here. But still fairly bright.

Sorry Emily today is not the day. We got some winds and rain. Right now it is not doing anything. I don't know if it is done for the day or not. I don't think there were any tornado sightings. Did you hear any different?

Sabrina - as I look out my office window, it is pitch black outside, thunder and lighting like crazy and the rain is pouring down. There has been cloud rotation spotted in Tazewell County (which is where I am right now). So you must have been lucky - but there may be more coming!

Funnily enough, as I watch the rain pour down, I see that my company has the lawn sprinkler system turned on right now. LOL!

Emily-If it is the same storm it will pass by fairly quickly. It is cooler outside at least. I was getting tired of the humidity. :)

Oh thank goodness for that! The heat/humidity combination was really wearing on me. I bet my lawn will really appreciate this rain. There is still a T-storm watch till 9pm, so there could be more storms developing later. Looking at the radar - it appears that we are not out of the dark - after the big front moves through, there are still some severe storms trailing behind - so you might see that in a couple hours. Hang on to your hat! :D

I am a big chicken and quite scared a severe weather! We don't get much in the way of tornadoes here on the east coast...we get T-storms and hurricanes. Hurricanes I can watch but T-storms are too scarey for me. I am terrified of lightening...electricity in general as a matter of fact. I don't mess with it. I don't like to be outside at all during a T-storm if I can help it and even when I'm indoors they irk me. I close all windows and doors and keep the blinds down and curtains closed, etc! I don't want to see a thing!!!
My fear of lightening probably actually teeters on the verge of being unhealthy...I am THAT afraid of it...:-( x( ;(

Suddenly I am thrilled with my snow in June!! Tornadoes freak me out! Give me a good old fashioned earthquake any day, thunder and lightning, even blizzards....but keep those twisters in the movies and away from me.

My brother just moved from Hawaii to Oklahoma and what a change that has been. He was also talking about the tornado warnings. I just hope they never experience them.

If you get to see one, I just hope it is from a distance:)

I love to view severe weather when I am somewhere other than my home. LOL! I am a weather nut and would love to be a storm chaser. We had hurricane Isabel roll thru these parts a few years ago and the storm widen the streams and took down some roads and trees. It was a mess. The wind was mighty strong at 70+ mph. I thought the grill was going to be going to Kansas to visit Dorothy, but it stayed put and so did the antenna on top of our home. I was really freaking out that night...kinda a rush in a way. LOL

I love weather as well, especially thunderstorms. Right now it's looking really ominous here and the trees are really blowing around. Haven't seen any lightning yet, but I expect to at any time.

A winter nor'easter is also cool. As long as the power doesn't go out.
