The tear drop and horseshoe legs

Hi Everyone, I am trying to figure out exactly where these parts are that Cathe mentions. As for the teardrop, is it the indentation on the side of the butt or is it on the quad toward the bottom? When looking at the arm, is the horseshoe with the legs facing down? Does that make sense? I'm trying to see these. Thanks so much!

Jennifer

The teardrop is the quad muscle as it meets your knee joint. It forms a sort of teardrop shape right above the knee.

The horseshoe legs are your tricep. The tricep is, in fact, shaped like a horseshoe, with the legs of the horseshoe at the bottom, pointing towards your elbow. I've attached a link to a diagram. The tricep is shown in blue.

A clarification: the "teardrop" is on the inner side of the knee (and on someone who is well-muscled, you can see it clearly. Cyclists have well-developed, hard-as-rock, teardrops).

Hey Shelley, thanks for posting the horseshoe diagram. I have been in the dark about that one and now my interest in my tri's has gone from "Why is my arm still waving when I am in fact not intending it to wave any more" to "hey, is there a muscle under there!"

The teardrop I know.....my husband is a cyclist and his are SMOKIN'.

Keep your head in line. Your butt will follow.

This thread is making me want to go get my GS order personally rather than wait for the UPS guy!!!!

Hey Shelley! Thanks so much for the great diagrams! You are awesome! So since the tear drop is on the inner side does that mean it is the vastus medialis? Thanks again!
Jennifer

Yes, that's right Jennifer. If you can find a pic of a bodybuilder, you'll notice that the muscle does, indeed, look much like a teardrop when it's developed to that extent:)
