The resolution I simply must keep in 2008

I would say I lead a sober lifestyle, but it want to take it further, to completely eliminate alcohol from my life. Through trial and error (mostly error) I have found it really has no positive effect on my life at all, yet once in a great while I allow temptation to creep in, that has to change.

From this day forth, I challenge myself to stay alcohol-free, I love a good challenge, so there it is.

PS...No, I did not wake up this morning with a hangover, or anything like that, it's been months since I had anything at all. That's no longer good enough, I need it out of my life altogether!! I figured today would be as good as any to challenge myself!

I did wake up with a hangover. A bad one. I'm also resolving to lessen my alcohol consumption; however, not eliminate it. Tomorrow I'm starting the Jan. 08 rotation and plan to loose 15 pounds this month.

Sonja,

Good luck with your healthy choices, and believe me, I feel your pain today, although I don't share it, I can certainly remember many a NYE that got just a wee bit out of hand!

Good luck with it Jerry. I'm sure you can do it!

(I'm a wine lover, but had to give it up in 2007 because even a single glass was making me sick. I feel much better now, and really didn't need the empty calories anyway. ;) )

Good for you Jerry !

Along with Sonja, I need to definitely cut back - I do like the taste of a good beer and a glass of wine but moderation is the key for me too this year.

Good luck to us all :7

Jerry.
May you have the best with this challenge. I quit drinking about 8 years ago when I gave my life to CHRIST, and it was all good. I lost weight by not drinking and no longer hungover. At home for Christmas, I did go out with my brothers but drank responsibly with no hangover or aftermath.
The calories that are in those drinks, I would rather treat myself to something else.
Your resolution is a great one!!

I admire you, Jerry. I've ready some posts where you talked about your struggles, and I can't blame you for wanting it out of your life entirely. Good luck to you!!

Good for you Jerry! I love my wine, but know I feel better when I drink just water and the occasional cup of joe and herbal teas.

I had champagne last night and remembered why its not good to drink too much this morning! It messes with workouts and everything!

I am with you and support you with this challenge! :)

Good Luck with your resolution. I only drink a beer every once in a while. It does tend to mess with my workout schedule. I drink lots of water and red tea.

Jerry, my last drink of alcohol was on July 19, 1987. I have never once wished to have alcohol back in my life. It's amazing how much fun you can have "sober".

I'm with ya on that res, brother!

You can do it Jerry! Alcohol-ah, mixed emotions. I like to have a mixed drink or 2, and I enjoy wine, but I always know, in my mind, this stuff is going straight to my fat cells. And sitting there. Alcohol just keeps you fat. So really, what is the point of having it?

I wish you all the best in '08 with your challenge. As long as you don't have 'peer pressure' you got the willpower to make it!

Best of strength to you with that. Luck is for people who don't take control, and you're taking control. I don't know what sort of presence alcohol has in your life, but if it's negative - then kick it out.

Jerry,

I am right there with you! I am doing the same thing for the new year and beyond!

Way to go :)

Mary
