The Master Cleanser

Ok, last night I began my first fasting program ever. A friend of mine does this every 6 months or so and the doc who wrote some of my favorite nutrition books swears by this. I picked up The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs and started this lemonade fast. Even got the laxative tea. I think the first few days are the worst, but I'd indulged way too often and I was having toxic food reactions, so I know I need to cleanse.

Anyone else ever done this program? I'm actually excited to see the results. I'm shooting for a week, though I know people do this for 10-40 days. But I'll tell you what...once I'm done and I've weaned off of the fasting carefully, I'm heading for a good restaurant and having a hell of a meal!

In my heart I want to work out, but the first few days I'm taking it easy while my body adjusts. My friend Tracey says by day 3 you don't feel hunger at all and you have tons of energy to work out and all that. By day 5 she says she's got energy through the roof! I'll let y'all (the influence of my Texan man there) know how it's going.

Hey Lex,
That sounds really interesting. I have been indulging way too much, but I have been going to Colonics once a month and I have noticed a huge difference. It is disgusting but the results are worth it. The woman who does the colonics follows a program by Dr. Bernard Jensen. Have you heard of him? Well she wants to put me on a week long cleansing program too. A lot of supplements and a lot of vegetable juice combos. She says I will feel like a million bucks, but I have to admit it makes me nervous, especially since I have to work and all. I will probably do it. I know I should and I know that I am toxic (too much alcohol and when there is too much alcohol there is smoking involved). But first, I would love to hear about your results. I would hate having to give up working out, but it is after all only a week and it is not the end of the world. If anything, my body will probably thank me for a rest. Please keep me updated. I hope you get great results.
Take care!
Christine

Well, this is my second day with no food, just the lemonade drink and the laxative tea at night and first thing in the a.m. I feel great. I have lots of energy, I'm not really hungry at all. I crave foods sometimes, but no real stomach hunger. I'm shooting for the full 10 days Burroughs suggests as a minimum. I'm going on a trip soon or I'd go longer, honestly. Next time I do this, maybe in a few months, I will go longer. I didn't know if I could do this, but I am.

I even worked out yesterday and had plenty of energy. So I don't see why you'd have to skip them. Everyone's body is different, of course, but my friend who does this fast works out during, too. I don't really feel any different, I'm not lethargic or fatigued. My friend says by day 5 your energy is unbelievable. I can't wait! I'm feeling some effects of the beginning of the cleanse; my lungs are tighter, I have some itching and sneezing, but I expected that. It's my body clearing out. And I go to the bathroom a lot. Another aspect I expected.

So I'll keep updating and letting you know how it's going. So far I'm just amazed I'm doing it myself!

Wow, things sound like they are going well. You actually worked out yesterday. Are you still working out hard or are you going lightly. I am curious because I would like to do a cleanse without sacrificing my workouts too. I'll see how yours goes first just to get ideas. I was told I would probably feel lousy for the first 2 days, but then I will feel better and better as the cleanse goes on. I am just trying to avoid the first two days of misery, but I know it will only benefit me. Thanks for the update and please keep me posted.

Hi!! I have never heard of that before. It sounds like something I would like to do. Could you give me a little more info on this? All you drink is lemonade? Is there any wedsites I could go to? Sorry for so many questions. Have A Blessed Day!!!

I am working out lighter, I'm only on about day 2 now, but once I get over the hump I will do normal workouts. My friend said the same thing, that the first few days your body is adjusting and beginning to shift things around, so you have a little less energy. Although I feel pretty good. Woke up alert, been going normally all day. I will say my tummy has been a little in uproar fom the laxative tea, but I undrstand that passes in the first few days as well. All worth it in the long run.

The book (only about 50 pages so it's more of a booklet) is called The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs. I got it at Whole Foods for about $6. You drink this homemade lemonade 6-12 times per day. The drink recipe is:

10 ounces of spring water (hot or cold)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice
2 tablespoons Grade B dark maple syrup
1/10 tsp. cayenne pepper

It's actually quite tasty. And before bed and upon waking you drink a cup of herbal laxative tea. The lemonade loosens things in your intestines, the tea helps to move it out. I'm planning to go until the 14th (12 days total) and then you taper off over a few days. I'm going to Dallas on the 18th for pleasure and I want to be able to eat and drink a bit. I should be fit as a fiddle when I go and I might just do a few days on the cleanse when I get back, to get back to where I was before the trip. I'll see how much I indulge.

Anyway, hope that answers the questions. I'll keep you guys posted.
