<---is now going to share 2 highlights (lowlights?) from weekend:
The highlight of the Grand Prix Festival on Friday afternoon is a re-enactment of the Grand Prix race held on the original road course by real vintage race cars. The first car in the race was a small, open wheeled car with one seat. As many of the drivers do, the car was carrying a passenger, although there were no seat belts, nor any place for her to sit or hold on adequately. On the first curve, where we stand to watch the race, the passenger fell out of the car and was run over by the rear wheel. The crowd flagged down and stopped the other race cars coming up the hill, DH ran down the hill calling for 911 and an ambulance and an ER nurse in the crowd began to care for the woman. Fortunately, the car was relatively light and it ran over her lower extremities. We understand she will be alright, but it kind of put a damper on the rest of the evening.

The second issue I had was on Sat. DH had purchased a pass to park in the antique car paddock, which was cool, but it also included parade laps on the actual Watkins Glen International Raceway. I was scared to death! I have no idea how fast we were going, since our speedometer only goes to 80mph, and DH pegged it. It wouldn't have been so bad, except there were all kinds of other cars on the track with us, and I had no idea what kind of drivers they were. DH played race and chase with a Porsche Carrera, and was having a great time while I clutched the arm rest and stomped on my imaginary brake. My legs were weak and I almost passed out when we got back to the parking area. After that, we left for the wineries, which was a GOOD THING.

<--remembers <--'s mom calling <--and begging <--to go stay w/aunt and uncle for the day as mom did not want <--to be alone if something else happened.
<--has rambled too much about depressing things.

<--slept in this morning! <--got up at 7am..WOO HOO!:p
<--is taking a rest day today but will take DS for a walk in the jogging stroller to see how it handles, etc.

<--knows from experience that holding things in can backfire.
<--also understands though, the idea of shutting out memories are that just too painful to remember and NEVER talking about it. <--knows a gal who was getting out of the path at WTC when the first tower was hit. <--was pretty traumatized by what she saw and has NEVER spoken of it. :-(

<--says the church was magnificent and there were talks by a priest, a rabbi and a muslim leader
<--says we lit candles and held them while the names of the Fiduciary Trust Co. employees were read
<--says at the reunion of the IT group, <-- was told by the CIO how lucky the company was that <-- and DT were in London on our honeymoon, because DT was able to make the connection to the disaster recovery site from the Fiduciary office in London
<--was told that because of DT, the company was able to continue to function through the disaster!!!!
<--had never known that before
<--thinks it was fortuitous that we chose London as our honeymoon destination
<--is glad the woman who drove the vintage car is going to be okay!
<--is very glad that Robin is back!
