By the end of April, I could run 5 miles and felt pretty darn good. I was starting to see muscle's and was eating pretty clean. Summer came, I became lazy/busy/more lazy and just stopped. EVERYTHING. What's up with that and how does a person break that cycle? I've gained and my endurance is low. Anyway.. worked out today for the first time in a long time, feel great... hopefully back on track.....

Does anyone else have this problem... just start seeing great results and quit?

I use to do that many, many years ago. Then I started and stuck with my little rule. I don't let myself go beyond 2 days or the absolute max of 3 days straight without some form of activity.

I have kept this going for over 6 years plus, now. I usually workout 6 days a week. I have worked very hard to get where I am now, and so that helps me stay focused because it's hard work to take it off. I find maintaining easier.

DaisyAnn,
After several years' hiatus from *regular* exercise, I have been working out consistently now since January, and the positive results have kept me motivated. However, life does get in the way sometimes. And also, I find that hormonal fluctuations can zap my energy -- or make me a ravenous maniac. I just try to bounce back as quickly as I can, not let too much time lapse. To break the cycle, I think it is largely a matter of how badly you want to be fit...and pushing yourself to work out even when you don't feel like it. Either way, once you get in a groove -- whether it's a good cycle or a bad cycle -- you tend to stick with it. It might help if you link up with a workout buddy or do one of the check-ins - I find that helps keep me honest and motivated. Good luck! It sounds like you're on way to being back on track!

I have about the same rule as Namita. I never go more than 2 days without a workout unless I'm sick or injured. It has kept me working out consistantly for 2 years now. Never less than 4X per week, usually 6.

I'd started and stopped way too many times to count until this time! I decided it HURTS ;(too much to have to start over so I just keep chugging!:D
