for suggesting "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" a couple of weeks ago to whoever was looking for a book club suggestion. I finished it yesterday(it only took me 3 days to read...it was that good)and I that is all I have been talking about to anyone who will listen.

Thanks again,

Donna

You're welcome Donna! Wasn't it great? I read it in a weekend basically, too, I just couldn't put it down. I'm always curious to learn how other women live and have lived. I was fascinated by the foot-binding sections in particular.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

Another good book along the same lines, although it's a not fiction, is Wild Swans: Three Daughters Of China by Jung Chang.

Elaine, my MIL got that for me last Christmas, knowing of my fascination with Asian women's history, and I adored it. A great recommendation, indeed!
