Kristan & Mary, thank you so much for recommending the Aquaphor. I bought some on Tuesday evening and today (Thurs) Gannon's face is almost completely cleared up. That stuff works wonders! Thanks again. :)

Cool! I love these boards for what I learn on them. I've never heard of Aquafor before, but will be picking some up I think. I'm glad Gannon's face is so much better, so quickly! Time to take lots of pictures!

Now, can anyone help me deal with cradle-cap? Katie has a small patch that seems to refuse to go away.

Cheers,
Sandra

You are so sweet!!My ds had bad eczema as an infant and that stuff worked wonders. I glad it helped your family as well.

Dandruff shampoo will work, you'll have to use it a couple times, but it should clear it up. Aquafor might work too...I used baby oil with my first...dandruff shampoo with the second.

Good luck!

Dana- you're welcome. Glad it worked out. I'm like Mary- I was introduced to Aquaphor through terrible eczema and have been a convert ever since.

Sandra- Try the gel baby oil. My kids had such bad cradle cap that it really didn't ever come off. Their hair grew in so it covered the funk on their heads. In fact, I kid you not that my 3 yo still has little patches under her white blond hair. Have a good day! Kristan

...wow...mine too, I thought I was the only one. I used the baby oil lotion with him when he was younger, but when my daughter got it I used the dandruff shampoo on him too and it cleared it up for both of them and haven't had any reoccurances (yet).

Lindzebird,

Are you talking about Head & Shoulders, or something else? And do you know if it's safe to put on a baby who's not quite 5 months old yet?

Thanks!
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

According to info. given to me by a doctor..."Any antidandruff shampoo containing selenium should work, but be careful not to get it into the baby's eyes. Typically you'll need to use it daily for 3 days and then twice a week or so until it clears up, then you could go back to regular shampoo."

We just used a generic brand. I used it on my daughter when she was 3 months. I actually didn't need to use it as long as it was recommended to clear it all up, but then I had a reoccurance later...used it again and now it's gone.

Other advice that I was given.."If the scalp is very crusty, put some baby oil or olive oil on the scalp 1 hour before washing to soften the crust. Wash all the oil off, however, or it may worsen the cradle cap.
If it's red and irriated, apply 1% hydrocortisone cream three times a day for 7 days."

Hope that helps!

That helps a LOT!! Thank you so much for all the information! I'll pick some shampoo up this week, and let you know how it goes.

Cheers,
Sandra
