I am sharing this by request. :7 Southern baking at its best! :9 This is so unclean and oh so yummy. :9 This is from Beth Moore’s blog, so it is sanctified too! ;-)

Grease a jellyroll pan and sift:

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar

Bring to a boil:

2 sticks butter
1 c. water
4 Tbsp. cocoa

Pour over dry mixture and mix in:

2 eggs
½ c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla

Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Heat:

1 stick butter
4 Tbsp. cocoa
6 Tbsp. milk

Add close to a box of powdered sugar to achieve desired consistency and 1 c. pecans and spread on cake while it is hot.

If your name is Michele, do 3 hours of Cathe cardio today! :7 Enjoy! :9 This tastes even better the second day and is especially good after Rhythmic Step. ;-) Yummy! :9

Blessings,
Heather B.

OMG. my aunt used to make the best Texas sheet cake in the world...

You are making me really hungry...I have not had this in like 10 yrs...

This brings back delicious memories. My great aunt used to make this, but with mini marshmellows on top instead of pecans.

ROTFLOL!!! Well I didn't do 3 hours of Cathe cardio, but I did about an hour of Cardio Coach on my elliptical and I hope that will hold me in good stead. I also plan to start Cathe's latest rotation. Did you see it? The GS workouts are prominently featured :p:D . I'll tell you what -- I'll do the GS workouts for you if you do RS for me. Deal?

Thank you so much for the recipe. Collecting recipes is a hobby of mine and I will treasure this one. I've named it "Heather's Texas Sheet Cake - The REAL Deal", in my recipe file. I will bake it with tender loving care this summer when my dear nephews come for a visit. Thanks again :* :* :*

Texas sheet cake was a staple in our house when I was a kid in the 70's. My mom made one every single Saturday, it was a big cake to feed all 8 people in the family. Great blast from the past! :9
