Hi Susan,

Do you know if this magazine is available in Western Canada or if it might have a different name here? I looked for it in September/October as I am very interested in the articles you wrote, but couldn't find it anywhere. It's entirely possible I just missed it, but I didn't see a magazine of this name anywhere in my travels.

I'm due with my fourth child in January and am very interested in your pelvic floor and ab articles, as I'm sure they go beyond the basics found in baby books.

I'd appreciate any info you may have.

Thanks!
Sandi

sorry... I didn't see you down there!

Hi Sandi,

I'm really not sure about its availability in Canada, but it's an iparenting.com publication, so you can go there and find a link to Pregnancy Magazine... or you can go to http://pregnancymagazine.com/

I'm flattered that you are interested in my articles :)

BTW, if any of the Cathe moms who helped me with my body image article are still around or lurking, I believe that article will come out in the January issue... :0)

RE: sorry... I didn't see you down there!

Hi Susan! Hope you are doing well. Thanks for the update on the magazine. I will be sure to check it out in January. This is very exciting!

I got an early copy...

... and it's in there :) I'm still so excited to see my byline on my articles!~

I forgot... Cathe's quoted in the article, too!

Speaking of you, Cathe, is that your postpartum body on your homepage?? If so, can I just say... WOW~!

I'm still plateau'd... lost the pregnancy weight (38 lbs.) in 3 mos., but have been having no luck at all losing the 20-25 icky pounds I gained just prior to my pregnancy (I always have to add that I'm 5'10" -- the pounds are still icky, but not quite as noticeable as they'd be if I were 5'0" LOL). Robby's 7 mos. old now, and I'm trying to just keep plugging with my workouts... I was needing a pep talk right about the time my January Pregnancy Magazine came in the mail -- it was good to read my body image article and remember to be good to myself and practice what I preach!!

Consistency, consistency, consistency... right? :)

RE: I got an early copy...

Hi Susan! Well I will be on the lookout for your article being that it is now January. Yippee! I'm so excited for you. I also wanted to thank you for being so helpful with the many questions on this forum. It has been so hard trying to get to all the forums lately. Thanks so much! Oh and since you mentioned my post partum belly in this post, I thought I would send you this link from our behind the scenes page. By now you may have already seen it:

Take Care!

RE: I got an early copy...

Those pictures are just great :0) What an inspiration! (although, I have to say, you appear to be just about all belly!)

Thanks for sharing all of your pregnancy and postpartum with us... I think that this forum is just excellent. Moms who are interested in their health need a place to share, and there really just isn't another forum like this online!

RE: I got an early copy...

Hi Susan!

I also think a body image article sounds great. I will also keep my eyes open for the magazine. Maybe a large book store will carry it here. I know its not in supermarkets or large discount stores.

Good luck with those 20-25 pounds. It is probably difficult to eat well with a 7 month old. Eating healthy food simply takes some time and work. It is infinitely easier to eat already prepared food. But that will likely have more fat, calories, sodium, etc. Just think, Robby needs his mommy to be healthy! And gosh only know how difficult it is to find time--and energy--to exercise! But I am sure you can do it!

RE: I got an early copy...

I know that Pregnancy Magazine is sold in Walmart stores, Barnes & Noble, and Borders... one of our two grocery stores here carries it as well (Hannaford). I've noticed that Pregnancy has a few more competitors in recent months with ePregnancy, for instance... interesting that there is such a big market!

Happy news... After 4 mos. of my plateau, I quickly dropped 10 lbs. in December... a combination, I think, of my consistent exercise for 8 mos. postpartum and 2 bouts of the flu in 3 weeks (not the best way to lose weight, but I've been pleasantly surprised that it didn't come right back on -- yahoo, it wasn't mostly water!)... If I was going to have to feel that rotten, I figure I may as well get SOMETHING out of it LOL.

I also got snowshoes for Christmas, so I've added that to my 4-5 workouts a week. Our Maine home is on 6 wooded acres, and we've got nearly 3 feet of snow on the ground now, so I've had fun with the snowshoes on the weekends. I take my 2 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers out with me, and they just love it. (Dh watches the kiddos :) I was also getting in a rut with the elliptical trainers and weights, so I've switched back to swimming for awhile.

LOL about prepared food -- I'm a mostly SAHM (except for the freelancing and teaching the prenatal exercise classes), so we're on a tight budget... when you re-adjust your life to live on one income, you quickly realize how much $$ you can save by making stuff yourself. I even make my own bread (it's fun :) half of the time. In my case, I think I plateau'd because I took the pregnancy weight off so quickly...and my body said, "WHOA!" I'm generally a very consistent exerciser and eat fairly well (not perfect, but not totally off the wagon LOL)... but Mother Nature does have a way of keeping a little extra padding on you sometimes when you are bf'ing. Totally worth it, though... Robby is a roly poly little guy and soooo healthy! :) I am not a dieter -- but I definitely believe in eating well and in reasonable portions.

At least I'm getting back into my old "regular" clothes again (anyone besides me have a 3 size wardrobe... skinny, regular, and chubby? LOL). What fun :)

Any other postpartum moms out there having success? Exercise is so key!
