Hi Girls,
Thought I would post this quick question here.
I am not due to start my period for another week but in the last couple of days my breast are feeling sore, the left one more then the right one. I haven't done any exercising that would bring this on. I haven't been on any kind of birth control in 4 yrs but we know it would be hard to get pregnate b/c DH has a low sperm count.Thats why I don't want to get my hopes up that I could be pregnate. I have one child but she is 9 yrs old and I have forgotten the symptoms....but I do remember the morning sickness.
Also, last month I was late starting my period. Like a week. Does anyone know if you ovulate at the sametime that you would if you had started your period when you were suppose to or would ovulation be driven off for another week?
Thanks,
Lori

Hi Lori!

<Does anyone know if you ovulate at the sametime that you would if you had started your period when you were suppose to or would ovulation be driven off for another week?>

Ovulation occurs 14 days (+ or - a day day or 2) before your menstrual period begins and can vary. So if you have a 28 day cycle you ovulate around day 14; if you have a 25 day cycle you ovulate around day 21; etc.

The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great source to better understand the menstrual cycle.

I second the idea of picking up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I learned SO MUCH from that book but of course can not remember any of it now:)

I want to add that that the period from ovulation to menses can be less than 12-14 days. If the number of days between (confirmed) ovulation and the beginning of menses is 10 days or less, you may have a luteal phase defect. A KNOWLEDGEABLE women's health care provider can use charts to identify possilbe underlying problems, in some cases anyway.

Thanks girls. My periods use to be so regular but my sister says that I workout to much and thats why sometimes they are delayed. I don't buy into it b/c I do take frequent rest days and I am not super crazy when it comes to working out.If I don't have the energy then I don't do it.
I should start my period around the 31st.The last one started on the 4th of Aug.My boobs have been sore for about a week now. They have gotten a little more sore but not to much.It starts right in under my arm pit and stops at the center of my breast. This is not a normal thing for me so this is why I am asking these questions.Dh says they are getting bigger to!
Anyway, thanks again.Ill let ya know next week this time if I am pregante or not.
Lori:)

Hi Lori -
I have a quick question - when you say your breasts are feeling sore but you haven't done any excercising - does that mean it feels like your muscle's sore vs. the soreness you feel when you're usually getting your period?
I'm just asking because I am in a bit of a similar situation - I just got off the pill so my periods are longer then usual (and less predicitable) and I was wondering the same question about if you ovulate a week later if your periods later. I'm feeling a soreness too - also more in my left breast - but it feels more like a muscle sore vs. a period sore. Just wondering if you were feeling the same -
How have you been feeling since then? Any more suspicious symptoms? :)
Good luck!
