"Swim Shapers"

Soosan

Cathlete
I've read several posts lately about tops w/shelf bras and having to wear strapless bras underneath in order to give a little more substance and/or prevent nipples from protruding.

I'm a 36B (barely) and, since discovering Swim Shapers,

http://www.galapagosboutique.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BRA-SWIMSHAPERS,

I wear tops with shelf bras almost every day in the summer and also when I do yoga or weight workouts. Since I nursed 3 babies, my breasts are not the fullest and perkiest things on earth anymore and my breasts don't otherwise look so hot in tops with shelf bras. With Swim Shapers, camisoles and other shelf-bra tops look great!

I found them in an underwear outlet store last summer. They're designed to be put into a bathing suit top (bikini or one-piece) and give you a little extra oomph (but not too much). They come in triangular or circular shapes. I wear them in my bathing suits, but I've gotten far more use putting them under shelf bra tops. The top can be white and my nipples don't show through. I wear so many tops now that I would not normally be able to wear. I have the triangles in sizes A/B and C/D and wear whatever suits the top best. I also have the circular, which isn't as versatile but works better with some of my suits.

They stay put very well (a bit of shifting depending on the top, but not very much and nothing you can't fix in two seconds), can be rinsed in the sink and after wearing them dozens and dozens of times, they're still like new!

I'm always recommending them to my friends.

RE:

Susan,

I wear these too, and love them. They do make wearing those thin shelf bras very possible. I use to get bras with those see-threw straps until I found these. I still like the see-threw straps at times, but these are great.

Thanks Sooooosan!

I just ordered some!! I am a "B" and ordered the A/B. Hope that is the right size?? I teach and there are certain tops that I have that are more revealing then others and I am hoping this will solve the problem. I hope they don't POP OUT when I am jumping around. Ha! I am planning to use them inside my jogbras so I am assuming that they will stay put. Thanks for the heads-up!

RE: Thanks Sooooosan!

Debbie, inside my sports bra they don't move. Never had one even slip a little with that type of bra. The shelf bra like with the bra that's already built in, on tanks etc, they do move a slight bit, but every easy to fix and not all that noticeable. But I also like wearing them with my sports bra, gives me a bit more stability and a better shape as they hold their shape even against the material that flatens us normally. I have the A/B size and the very hard to get B/C, I actually like the A/B better gives more of a shaping effect.

Thanks Kit! Clare....

Thanks Kit! I'll let you know what I think once they come. Glad to hear that they won't be popping out! Yikes! Clare, I had to search for them as the link didn't work for me. Try this:

Also, it say "free shipping" avaliable with this product but NO...ONLY if you spend $50.00+. (Just a heads-up as I had to call them to find out why it wasn't giving me free shipping.) HTH!

RE: Hey Deb and Soooooooooooosan!

I ordered some, excellent. Thanks for the tip. I'm also gonna get one of those camisoles, they're so cute. The shelf bra just wasn't enough for me.

RE:

I hope everyone likes them as much as I do!

Debbie, even though I'm a B, I find myself wearing the C/D one more often. Somehow it looks better. It's not like a bra where you have to be a certain size to fill the cup or else the material sags.

RE:

Susan-
Is it the kind of thing that needs a tight-fitting shelf bra to work? I have a bunch of those, so it sounds good, but I have a shirt with a deep neck and can't wear a bra with it- I tried my strapless and that didn't work either. I wonder if I could use these for that shirt. Probably not, but they look like a good fix for a common problem. Thanks for sharing!

RE:

You're welcome, Amy! I think they do need some type of shelf bra. They offer no support on their own, just shape and a way to hide nipple protrusion. I think the best analogy would be a shield, if that makes sense.

Yipeee!

Mine came today! I was out jogging and saw the UPS truck go by and thought to myself, "Wish he was going to my house!" :7 Sure enuf, there was a pkg. on my stoop when I returned. Sooooosan, Thanks for the heads-up on these. They work!

RE: How do you use them?

I just got mine, and I'm not so sure I like them. I thought they would be more about holding things together than enhancing. I'm fine with having a small chest. I'm just looking for the perfect bra set up for me. Susan- I don't regret getting them they were cheap, and of course people's taste and needs will vary. For those of you out there that are curious what their like....They are sort of shaped like shoulder pads and just slip right in your bra. My bathing suit isn't quite tight enough to hold them in very well. I'm worried they would end up floating in the pool! I would die!!
