Supplements

Besides your basic multivitamin, what (if any) supplements do you all use? I have a friend who is using Ripped Fuel twice a day, totalling 4 pills in all. I told her that I'm sure this isn't good for her, but she says that they are safe now that ephedra has been banned. Anyone got any opinions on this? She says that it really curbs her appetite.

I don't use anything at all, other than vitamins. I watch what I eat & work out hard, & I've pretty much reached my goals.

I have to reply to this. I used Ripped Fuel. It has Creatine in it, so I was getting bigger. Not what I wanted. Body builders use it to make muscles look bigger. I take now a multi vitamin, B-12, fish oil, v-E, and a green tea vitamin. I hope this helps some.

I've never heard of Ripped Fuel, but I personally would never use an appetite suppressant. I help my appetite by eating frequently, but not eating crap. All that stuff makes me nervous. One day the FDA says something is safe, the next day people are dying from heart disease caused by that same drug. Not cool.

I *have* used Ephedra products (the old Ripped Fuel), and honestly I don't understand the reason for the FDA taking it off the shelf. Yes -- some people abused the product by overdosing which contributed to their death. How many people have overdosed on aspirin or similar OTC medication? I don't see those products being pulled. In any case, I have had no ill effects from Ephedra just as I have had no ill effects from drinking 2 cups of coffee everyday. But that's just me.

I have not tried the new Ripped Fuel but I don't think all of their formulas contain creatine. I tried creatine for a while but did not like the amount of water I retained (made me look really smooth) even though my lifts were much heavier. I'm assuming that is one of the reasons for cycling creatine. I have tried androsteindione in the past too. I did not feel any effects whatsoever. I avoid Yohimbe at all costs since it makes me feel like I'm going to have a heart attack (they put it in a lot of the newer energy-type drinks). That is the stuff that should have been taken off the market :)

But that was several years ago when I was first getting into lifting and wanted to test things out. I currently only take a multi-vitamin and eat lots of protein bars/drinks. That's about it. When I am feeling exhausted, I will drink some coffee or take one of my last remaining original Ripped Fuels.

I take a multivitamin a few times a week, and vegan Omega-3 (Omega Zen) and Glucosamine on occasion, as well as a sublingual spray vitamin B12 (a couple of times a week).

I prefer more natural ways to curb my appetite, like eating whole foods with fiber that is filling, or drinking green/white/red/black teas or water.

If you and your friend are training hard and heavy, then why do you want to curb or supress your appetite? Your appetite is merely your body's response to your training and request for nourishing fuel. It does not seem healthy or productive to your training to ignore those body messages.

I take a multivitamin, extra iron, biotin, Vit B 12 and zinc, Sam-E and fish oils. I would never consider selling anything aimed at "burning fat" or "supressing appetite".
