Superhuman Workout!!!

Cathe:

I just finished previewing High Step Training, and I have officially decided that you and your crew are superhuman. ;) I thought pikes on the stability ball were wild the first time I watched them (and still cannot begin to do them), but some of the moves in this workout are out of this world. Now I have a whole list of other exercises to dream about being able to do someday. Thanks for the challenge! ;-) I did the cardio premix Friday. Now that is fun. :7 But I will be following Cedie when you are doing those single-arm dips!

I have a quick question. My core is very weak. Planks are a major struggle for me. I just bought the Ab Hits DVD. Will the traditional ab routines prepare me for core work like planks, or do I just need to get tough and suffer through the planks? The traditional stuff is definitely more comfortable for me at my size.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hi Heather!

Planks work the deeper core muscles while crunches focus more on the superficial muscle layers. Are you able to do planks on your knees? If so, bend and place your knees on the floor while doing planks but don't fully let your arms and legs take the load. Keep the core tight, and IMAGINE that you are going to straighten your legs. That imagination will both mentally and physically engage the muscles even though your knees aren't physically launching. Just as I say in levitation holds in Core Max.....just the attempt will improve your core strength.

Good Luck!

Cathe:

Thank you for the response. Actually, I can do planks on my toes, but I cannot hold them for long. I amazed myself yesterday morning when I tried the planks from CTX Kickbox for the first time and was able to do a few of the knee-ins in plank position. I just had to keep resting! ;-) I am hoping that planks will get easier with practice and less fat on my body. I have a long way to go, but I am making progress. Thanks for all the inspiration and great workouts! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.
