Sunday Night Depression??

Do those of you who work full time get Sunday night depression...you know, when you know you have a full week of BORING work ahead of you? I find that this is almost overbearing lately, I dread the beginning of the week. Can't figure out if this is really normal or a good indication that I have outgrown my job!!! LOL, it is data entry! Same ol boring thing every day, all day, same shift, same work... the monotony of it is killing me!

I was just talking about it with hubby and he said that everybody hates their job pretty much. So I said, "How do people just keep getting up everyday and doing the same boring thing over and over and over for the rest of their lives??" (picture makin' the donuts here, you know, "gotta make the donuts"). He said, "That is just what people do because they have to". I said, "But why do they have to?" and he said, "So that they don't have to live in a cardboard box, I guess".

So depressing. Is that all there is to life, living to get to Friday so that you can have two whole days of semi-happiness, or am I outta touch here? I told him I don't think I could ever do it. I would die if I had to live the rest of my life in my current job, current shift, blah...blah...

Discuss your opinions...:)

Janice, like I always have said, you get paid for it because if you loved it so much, you'd probably work for free as in a hobbie. Anyway, aren't you going to nursing school? Once you get out, you'll have more choices then & maybe find something more palatable. So, think in the long run. Also, no matter what you do, it can still get tiring at times.

I don't know--I've gotten that for years and years--ever since I started working, and actually, I can remember feeling that way when I was in high school. On the other hand, when I stop and think about what I want to do for a living, I'm currently doing what I feel I am best at and like most to do for work. Funny thing is, I worked for myself for 10 years, and I would STILL feel that way on Sunday nights--even if I didn't really have work to do the next day! So maybe it's conditioning?

I talk about this topic a lot with one of my friends. We both toy with the idea of getting active jobs. I can't help but think that if modern life and work didn't involve so much sitting around on your butt, typing at a computer, we'd all be happier. Hard to get in a funk when you're plowing fields....

Just my two cents on it. Wish I knew the answer.

Bun Bun....yeah, an active job does seem somehow better...hey, any job where you can't "watch the clock" and feel your body literally wasting away! I feel like everyday in my job I am getting weaker, and weaker, and weaker..

Marla..you are right. Everybody gets this to some extent. And yes, I am starting school so hopefully things will work out for the better for me there!

Guess the feeling is epidemic! LOL!

i would feel like you if i had a 5/day a week job......i truly cannot imagine it. that is a perk of being a nurse...work a few long shifts, and get several days off in a row, or work a day, off a day, work a day etc......i am enrolled in a MSN program, and even when i am done,i will not conform to a 5 day workweek(mon-fri).

i am sorry you feel this way. my husband goes thru this too..the severity however seems to fluctuate!

BTW, I do dread going back to work, I'm lucky enough to have Sats & Suns off, but I think my DH feels it to the extent you do. He is a pharmacist and every Sunday it's the same. I have learned to ignore him, because nothing I say to him makes him feel better.

Marla:-(
