Sun Sept 28 2008 Daily Check in

Good morning all!

Well, I'm looking forward to a non rest day...a REAL non rest day and lab work in the afternoon. I'm holding off a little because my throat hurts and I'm going to wait to make sure it passes (maybe that's why I was feeling so ehh all day yesterday...I sort assumed because it was bad orange chicken and Paul Newman passing away).

Hey! I also woke up with a sore throat and headache. I had ccpp on tap, and I was getting out of bed my husband told me I'd better not go running yet because the predators would still be out (the sun was just coming up). So, I hopped on the exercise bike and did ccpp that way. It was such a different feeling! I couldn't wait for it to be done, I have to admit, and I burned only (only?) 486 calories -- last month when I ran ccpp it was 590! But, part of the deal is that when I run it, because of the hills required, I usually end up about a mile away from my house when it's done, so I still have that to do before the cooldown. Anyway, I thought it was pretty interesting.

Vilma, how are those bells? I'm very close to taking the plunge! May go see if play it again sports has any today.

Hi All!

Well we are going to the county fair again today this time for the youngest. Its okay I guess and I stay away from all that crap and fill up my tummy before we go . Blech on the foods.

Anyways....


Hottie - take care of yourself; I'm still dealing with whatever hit my this month but it comes and goes --- very weird

- Kettlebells .....well let me tell you how surprised I was when DH mentioned he actually may join me with that :eek:. I hope he does eventually start with me.

(He's known about the russian weights for a long time now and was surprised that they are making there way to the states. He's not into fitness since he retired and he said while he was deployed while still Active Duty he saw the guys doing it in the desert way back when.

Many other countries were deployed and they pretty much knew each other and hung out during down time. It was either the makeshift gym or the bar for them.)


I still have DOMS from playing with my kettlebell from Friday night and my inner thighs are like how I would feel if I went real heavy on weights. Holy smokes. Actually thats what really sold me on the KBs.

I have found a way to protect my forearms when doing Cleans and other moves where the bell rests on my bony forearm...tube socks wrapped around and safteypinned LOL. I couldn't find any sweatbands in this freaking area.

One day when I venture off to where we plan to move I'll check out Dick's & Play it Again sports. DH has to drive out there everything for work so I can tell him to get me some too. Can't wait to move to the Capital City!!!

So I have Lauren Brooks dvd coming ...she's fast; I ordered Friday night and she shipped it yesterday she's in San Diego so I wonder when I'll receive it.

I also ordered The Kettlebell Way dvd last night from Beacon fitness then I went to perform better and ordered a 8kg and 12 kg vinal coated bells to protect my hardwood floors.

The 12 kg is for me but I hope dh uses it too.

I went over to VF and they have a tons of information about Kettlebells that have helped me figure out what I need to start with.

Honestly can't wait to get my dvds for better instruction on form and working out.

Also Beth it's recommended if you have a RKC trainer in your area to try and make an appointment so you can learn proper form.

There is one in the area we are moving to eventually but for me to take a 2 hour drive for just that is out of the question at the moment.

Also if you read my thread over in OD you'll have many folks who have given me great info too.

Hi ladies...

Checking in with Imax 3..Love that workout. It was great getting it in too. I was so enjoying the cardio!!! After that I ran to Walmart...Didn't get time to really look around like I wanted to do. So, Tuesday I am going to try and get over to Target and checkout the gliding disks that I read were on sale or clearance or something and the kettlebells..

Vilma: we used to have a play it again sports. I loved that store!! I used to get all my dumbbells there. The 25s I got I had to get at Dick's as the other store closed or something!!

Hottie and Beth: Hope your throats are getting better..Had a great time with Imax 3. I was putting extra effort into it and felt that I got a great workout today...I guess not getting a workout in yesterday, I had alot of energy!!
 
Vilma, yes, I got your pm (thanks!) -- I've been reading a bunch of stuff both here and over on vf, too. There is a lot of good information around. I've taken almost the same plunge as you -- the 8kg and the 12kg and I ordered Lauren and instead of the art of strength I went for Anthony's Providence. I haven't yet tried anything with the bells because I am still feeling sore from previous workouts and I want to make sure I don't do anything stupid. I may just wait for the dvds to arrive. I know Anthony has a lot of tips on his site -- I've watched them previously when I was toying with bells, but my computer is far from a space where I could swing, so I may just wait. We'll see how tempting they are! The funniest thing that happened with all this is that I was telling DH about the bells and the ropes, and he told me "You should just become a sailor and then you'd be in great shape." :)

Maybe these will keep me happy while I wait for Chalean..... :)

Back from the fair and it rained on us a bit but lil one is happy - she got queasy on a few rides but didn't toss her cookies unlike her brother lmao

I got some airborne and have been taken some of that since we got home.

I almost got AOS Providence but ended up getting The Kettlebell Way because it is Providence with Anthony but I was told it has a tutorial section so thats why I got it but they are the same workouts.

I was doing some overhead swings earlier and my Go Fit KB handle is just not wide enough as I felt my pinky fingers cramped up.

Looking forward to receiving my other KBs soon.

Oh and I went on base and found some wristbands at the BX.

For now I'm pretty much set to start once I get my stuff delivered this week.

Tommorow I'll follow the leg blast rotation until my items arrive then I'm switching over to a KB roattion for this month alternating both dvds.

Have you tried the get ups yet? I'm still working on those lol.

Lots to learn, lots to learn.


Glad you jumped in the kettlebell pool with me Beth it will be nice to know someone else in my age group will be starting out at the same time with me.

I ended up doing only the first 5 combos + blasts of LowMax because something just felt wrong with my body today. I had glanced with at my HRM through the whole workout going why is my HR so high. So, took a break off.

Kathy -- WTG on Imax3! That looks like one tough workout.
