Summer exercise

I have not been in the mood for Cathe cardios for over a week because of this heat wave we're experiencing (high 80's and muggy). I work-out after I get home from work and we have no air conditioning, so it's just too hot. I hadn't done cardio since Wednesday morning.

This morning I decided I'd go for a bike ride instead. Oh, but was that nice! Except for the fact that my bike chain needs greasing and I had to listen to a constant "screeeeeek...screeeeek... screeeeeek...", it was just so nice to be out enjoying the fresh air and scenery. Watching the birds, smelling the flowers...and then getting rained on for the last 20 minutes of the ride. I think that for the remainder of summer and probably into early October, my main source of cardio will be my bicycle. As long as it's not too rainy or windy. I can even take my daughter with me in her trailer, which she actually enjoys this year. That makes the workout that much more difficult.

Now I just gotta get some grease on the chain.

I'm with you Donna. I wrote about this yesterday. Cardio with Cathe is tough in horrendous humidity, you are sweating buckets by the end of the warm up. I don't have a/c either!!!

I have only managed 2 cardios this week also, but I figure, in order to not suffer heat exhaustion and/or temporary insanity, you have to go with the flow. Do cardio on the less humid days, and simply weight train with 2 fans directed upon your body on more muggy days. This is what I am doing.

Yestrerday, when the temperature dropped in the late afternoon I managed Circuit Max and was so happy with myself afterwards!

Your bike rides with your daughter sound like a marvellous idea and your daughter will benefit too. Enjoy!

I have a/c but the weather is just gorgeous. I have been taking a lot of walks. I just pulled my kids for a half hour in their wagon. I had jeans on, and I was starting to sweat afer half an hour.

I am with you, I will be running or walking for cardio until it gets really cold, and do Cathe for strength.

Well, I live in NC, so summer is when I STOP exercising outside! I can do the occasional bike ride, but running is OVER until October. I do have AC, and I also run a fan on myself and do a lot more MIC and Terminator to substitute for running. I do love being outside, but not in the summer. Nothing like riding through a cloud of gnats, going up a long steep grade in 95 degree heat with more heat coming off the asphalt, or getting nailed by a cloudburst to make me just wanna stay inside and look at pictures of snow-capped mountains. It's some kind of pornography this time of the year.

I have the same problem in FL, it's hotter than hades, the bugs are a flying, and there are always afternoon thunderstorms, but I still love this time of year, I guess I am used to the heat. Plus, "this time of the year", runs for a long time here. :)

I also notice that this year, after spending the last few months with the IMAX workouts and KPC, I have a lot more endurance riding the bike than I did a few years ago when I was into riding. I had been hit by a car back then, so didn't ride for a few years. And I also got out of regular exercising. But back then, the only tough cardio workout I had was MIC - which I don't think is tough compared to what she's cranking out these days.
