Suggestions for a First Cathe Workout

Hi! I am new to this forum although I have been lurking and thinking about getting into Cathe for a while.

I am 8 weeks pregnant and want to get started with a Cathe workout. I have been working out at the advanced level using the Firm 6 days a week for several months now. I know Cathe is a step up from what I've been doing so where would you all suggest I start? One choice would be Body Fusion, but I'm short on cash and want to buy a workout I will use and get a lot out of later, too.

I don't mind doing my own modifications so a tough workout is more "doable". I don't get easily frustrated with difficult choreography, either.

I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Emily

Are you intersted in cardio or weight training?

Cardio & Weights may be a good place to start. There is a pre-mix on the DVD - I believe it is 20 minutes of step. (which is pretty uncomplicated). I really like the ab section of C&W as well.

I'm also 8 weeks along and I've been using the Push Pull/Super Sets DVDs. PP is only about 45 minutes.

Last night I did Pyramid Upper Body. I'm soon going to have to modify the chest & back portions due to lying flat on your back (going to use my stability ball).

Stretch Max is a nice compliment to the weight training workouts. I try to do one segment of SM after I weight train.

I still reach for the Pure Strength Series - I enjoy doing the floorwork with ankle weights (don't have a body bar) from Strong Legs.

I could go on and on. :) The key is to modify where you need to. I wouldn't start with IMAX or any other intense cardio.

Good luck on your choice and welcome!!!

I absolutely loved the basic step/body fusion workout while I was pregnant! I also used it for getting back to exercising after my 6 week checkup postpartum.
It might be too easy for you if you are looking for something really advanced, but I know that I needed something a little less intense while I was pregnant.

Either way I think this one is definitely worth having. It really helped me maintain my fitness level

Good question! I am interested in cardio and/or weight workouts. I was thinking about getting the DVD that has cardio and weights and Imax 2 on it, but I have been told by others that under no circumstances should I attempt Imax 2 now. When I saw the clip, I thought there were a lot of modifications I could do to make it more "pregnancy friendly", but apparently I don't know anything! ;-)Thank you for your excellent suggestions!

I know I won't be able to go full tilt for long, but I feel so good right now! It's hard for me to spend my money (what little there is) on a DVD that I won't use after those 6 weeks pp. I don't know, maybe I will, though... Indecision! ;-)

Emily, welcome to the pregnancy boards! A great dvd is Step Blast-Step, Jump, & Pump. It's my favourite Cathe dvd because the workouts have a huge fun factor, and there are a whole slew of premixes on it that allow you to do workouts of every intensity level and duration. SB is a pure cardio workout, while SJP is a cardio & weights circuit workout. You can customize any kind of workout you want with this dvd. It will be great for pregnancy, and for kicking things up a notch post-partum, when you're feeling up to it again.

Let us know what you choose!
Cheers,
Sandra
