Substitution for chest floor work.

Wendy I have a few suggestions. You could do wall pushups or even regular pushups if that is possible. Or if your step can be adjusted to have 2 risers on one side and maybe 1 or none on the other then it would be slanted for incline chest presses. My last suggestion is maybe doing chest presses on a stability ball but put your body more in an upright position instead of lying down. However, with using the ball you might need to use lighter weight since you will have to focus on balancing as well. Just a few thoughts. If anyone thinks these are not appropriate please let me know. I know that whenever I become pregant I plan to use these substitutions.

Good luck!

Hello.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I do not (as of yet anyway) own a stability ball. I thought about the step with risers but with only 2 risers under one end of the step, the incline is so minimal I don't feel like it would be enough to make a difference...If I am wrong and it really will help, please advise!:)

For now I may try the push up idea but in the work outs i do cathe usually does a lot of push ups just prior to chest flies, etc so I don't know how many additional ones I'll be able to handle! lol

Hmmm...maybe I can throw pillows or blankets under the risers to raise the incline of the step and try that...we'll see...Thanks again!:)

Have a great work out!

Wendy,
I just did Slow and Heavy Chest Back and Abs yesterday and did the inclines by adjusting my step in this way. Just put 3 risers under one side of the step and then move your step so that the side without and risers is up against the wall or the base of the couch, etc. so that it doesn't slide and this incline should be enough, as well as stable. Get your DH to try first for safety and then get yourself on, you might even want him to spot you if your weights are very heavy.
Good luck,
Mattea

I only have 2 risers for my step at this time and I'm not ready for more yet...BUT...I gave in and just ordered a stability ball.:) I kept on trying to talk myself out of it because I really don't know where I'll keep it (my work out room is very small) but this seems to be a widely used piece of equipment in Cathe's work outs and it's not a lot of $ so I finally just did it figuring it's worth it. My next purchase will probably be a barbell...but I think I will wait on that until after the baby is born and I'm back in "full swing" with my work outs.

Have a great work out!
