STS - 3 month or 6 month

looking good

With STS almost out the door....I'm still on the fence it I should do STS as 3 month or six months???:confused:

What is everyone else going to do?

Therese

I've seen some other posts on this subject, and there are a bunch of people doing the 6 month. I have finally and definitely decided on doing the 3 month rotation. I plan on doing this more than once this year, so after the first 3 month round, I'll re-evaluate for the next go around.

I think for me the psychological effects of just 3 months will really help me push 100% through the end. 6 months feels too long for me and gives me too many opportunities (in my "I can justify anything" brain :p) to start sliding and skipping workouts.

I am VERY seriously considering the 6 month rotation. My body would really benefit from a solid and consistant 6 month rotation. I'll decide, obviously, 100% this weekend since I'm planning on starting it Sunday or Monday.

As for the concern about getting bored or metally drained by doing such a long rotation, I figure if I start to hit that point, I can always switch immediately over to the 6 month rotation and just pick up with whatever Mesocycle, Disc and Workout I'm currently on.

I'll be interested to see what people do as well!

I'm seriously thinking about doing the 6 month but still on the fence also. I guess I'll just see how the first week goes which should be interesting because I haven't worked out for a month now. I am really looking forward to starting STS.

I can't decide.
What Dela says makes sense. I was thinking I would decide after the first week.

Me too.
I am new to cathe workouts and have just ordered a bunch of her workouts. Once they all arrive, I will be too excited and want to try everything.

I know I read this somewhere but can't remember...
If I do srtart with STS and do the 6 month rotation, would I do each DVD twice (Mon DVD #1, Wed DVD #!, Fri DVD #2, Mon DVD #2 etc) or do week1 then week1 again?

I think it was posted somewhere that you would do week 1 for 2 weeks, week 2 for 2 weeks, week 3, yup , for 2 weeks....

I am doing 6 months. The fact that clothes that fit, oh, about four months ago no longer fit AT ALL tells me I need a big kick in the butt. I'm hoping STS is the ticket.

Therese - I would suggest doing the first mesocyle and, once it's complete, decide if you'd like to move to mesocycle 2, or if you'd prefer to repeat the first meso.

Hey Jillybean,

I may do just that....I may even just do the first week and judge from there tooo....either way I sure can use a kick in my A$$ which I know STS will do....:p

I hear you about the clothes fitting....

Therese:

Seriously! I am going on a vacation very soon and I was trying on shorts I wore not too long ago, and it was a sad, sad state of affairs.

Whatever you decide, I really hope you enjoy STS!!

And here's to a smaller pants size!!!!

When I get to STS (I'm currently doing a CLX rotation), I plan to do 3 months (If I can talk myself into it, LOL!). I might repeat it for a 6-month program, but I think I'd get a better balanced program by doing 1 month of each mesocycle.

If you have particular goals for hypertrophy (muscle building) or strength building, you might think about doubling those mesocycles, and leaving the rest as-is. (I personally don't see much benefit iin doubling the endurance meso, which in my mind is kind of a prep for the others, especially since many of Cathe's other workouts are endurance based).

Or just stick with a meso as long as you are seeing results, up to 2 months.

The Mesos don't have to be used for an equal amount of time.

Exactly Kathryn. I probably will not do the mesocycle 1 twice through back to back, too much endurance for me. But 2 and 3, I can see myself alternating back and forth between these two and just picking out whatever leg workouts I want each week from all 3 of the mesocycles. As Kathryn states, it depends upon your body type, what your goals are, what your patience and tolerance levels are for structured programs. Mine are not high.......

Clare

Kathryn, it's funny you should say that because while I was running this morning (that's when I do my best thinking, lol) I was thinking this very exact same thing. Specifically, I was thinking that I may not need to repeat the endurance meso (Meso 1), but the other 2 I may. HHHMMMMMMM...just when I get it all figured out! LOL
