Stretching Exercises

Hi everyone. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby. It's a boy!

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't exercised at all during my pregnancy and prior to it because I was going through fertility treatments and I guess I was a little depressed. I have no excuse for my first trimester other than I was sleeping all the time.

So now I picked up Denise Austin's pregnancy tape and even though my love is step aerobics, at this point it is nice to just move.

I was wondering about stretches though. Just doing some light exercises I can tell how tight I am. Is it ok to use Cathe's stretching DVD? And I hear conflicting reports about being on your back but I think for a limited time it wouldn't be a problem ???.

Thanks

Hi Navywife, Congrats on your bambino!! :)

Here are some great (and safe) daily stretches for pregnancy. I'm not advocating the "slimmomsecrets" program...just the stretches:

I think Cathe's 30 minute stretch routine from FitTV is wonderful, and most of it can be done through pregnancy. As far as the back thing, I've found that I can be on my back for under 2 minutes without any problem. I could do it longer when the baby was smaller, but I was always pretty careful and sat up to take breaks in between. As long as you're not feeling dizzy. But I'd say only do what you feel comfortable with.

Good luck!
