Strange coworker behavior

There is this woman who sits right next to me at work. I really like her - she's very fun and nice, but she did something I've never seen before this morning. She came in and sat down, and while the conversation between another coworker and the two of us was going on, she pulls out her stick of deodorant and applies it - right in the middle of the office!!!!

Is it me....or is that just weird?

That woman lacks social graces. She should have gone to the ladies room.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

I'm guilty of this. There have been several times when I am rushed and forget to apply deodorant. I keep one at my desk just in case and I do apply it sitting at my desk. I try to make sure no one is around but if someone walked by, I really wouldn't care :D. Watching me put on deodorant is a lot better than smelling my funky armpits all day.

She is very forward on what she tells people. I have almost choked on my gum when she's told me some of her personal information. But I've come to enjoy her - so, I guess I can deal with the deodorant issue.

I've been caught doing it, too. I also keep a stick in my desk. We have a pretty casual atmosphere in my office.

I do, however, close my door to floss. :)

OK you know I just HAD to read this one.......;-)

Yeah that's a little strange. I won't even blow my nose in public much less take care of my personal hygiene. In her defense I'm assuming your office is all female? In which case it wouldn't be that big of a deal except WTH didn't she do it at home? Did she just forget this morning? Frankly I find it more strange that she'd leave the house without deoderant than putting it on at work.......

Oh Laura - forgetting deoderant is nothin'! Some mornings, I have to mentally check to see if I have a bra and underwear on!!! :D

All I can say is that some days are just crazy... With kids, school, work and life, just getting everyone out the door can be hectic, let alone checking all the 'finer details' to see if everything is done. :)

I used to keep a whole 'emergency kit' at work: make-up kit, deoderant, earrings, curling iron, stain remover, lint brush, sewing kit, de-static spray, nylons (2 colors), spare shoes, hair care items, dental care items, medicines, nail polish, etc.

There are things I don't need to see other people doing. I'm not against having some back up deoderant at work, but come on, do I really need to see you put it on?

Too funny! OK Grace my mornings are hectic & I'm ALWAYS running late (I'm on time for everything but work LOL), but I don't have kids & I can certainly see how they'd throw one if not several monkey wrenches into your spokes.

Debbie, what if some people WANT to see you applying your deoderant? }(

I am a SAHM now but I used to keep an emergency kit at work as well. I didn't have extra shoes though. Once I drove all the way to work before I realized that I still had on my house slippers!

Yeah, I find that a bit odd. She could have gone into the rest room to do it. I'm going to try brushing my teeth an flossing at my desk tomorrow.

I'm also guilty of this. I've done it at the desk or in my car, but I always check out nobody is watching. Sometimes going to the bathroom to do it is not an option. I'll take this over BO anytime.

A quick little story, years ago one of my friends was introducing me to his girlfriend and she asked me if I had a deodorant on my purse because she forgot to apply deodorant and didn't want to go back to her apartment for that. So I gave her my stick of deodorant and wiped it with a tissue. She applied it right there in front of me (she had just met me!). Now that was weird!
