Stitches - no weights, oh no!

Help - I just had two, large, suspicious moles removed, one from my tummy and one on my back. I have several stitches in both places and can not do workouts for back and abs for 14 days.

I'm totally bummed out! I was just starting to see good results and feel like I'm going to lose all my recent improvements. I can still do cardio, legs and arms (carefully, of course).

What should I do? I'm so discouraged.....

Your input is much appreciated! jasper

I am sorry you are having this set-back. I don't think it will affect your progress all that much though. Just do slow weight work. Slow and Heavy might be a good idea. I wouldn't do either of the Body Maxes (too quick)

Remember that even after your stitches are taken out in 2 weeks, your wound will only be at 20% of its original strength. Even at 10 weeks you'll only be at 80% original strength.

Oh, you should be able to do planks for abs.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I'll be re-discovering my love for LowMax. I never thought about planks, that's a great idea! And I didn't realize it took that long for the wounds to heal - my golf season officially starts in April, so I'll have to be careful.

Thanks again for the imput - jasper

I had a mole removed from my back a few years ago, about 4 inches above my tailbone... they put stitches in and told me to take it easy for 3 days... and then they took the stitches out and told me I was fine to ease back into activity... and that night I still popped it... ripped my fresh skin apart. OUCH is all I can say. I now have a scar the size of a quarter on my back. It still gives DH the willies, LOL!!! (He saw the hole in my back, I'm lucky I never did.) So much for having the mole removed by a plastic surgeon!

I would just really take it easy for longer than you think you need to. ;-)

A couple of years ago I had eye surgery and I couldn't workout for 14 days either. It wasn't a big deal. If your doctor said you can't workout then you can't. All your body's energies should be used to heal your body after the surgery. Not to mention that when you workout there's sweat and that can lead to bacterial infections.

Remember also to focus on a clean diet and eat just the amount of calories you need to function normally. Don't go overboard because you won't be burning excess calories if you're not working out. Take care.
