I saw the clip of the movie where Edward stops the van and was prompted to read Twilight . I didn't enjoy it. I don't believe that our happiness is tied up in one person, and thought this was a horrible example to teenagers. But I kept the book.
Right before I got the movie from Netflix I read it again, liking it a little better this time. Then I saw the movie and had to buy a copy of the movie.
So then I bought a copy of the second book and hated it. I read for enjoyment. I understand that the author wanted to further develop the relationship between Jacob and Bella but I was depressed for three days while reading it, because Bella was so depressed. And then the author had to drag the charaters to Italy, which I thought added nothing to the plot and made the book silly. So I wasn't thrilled with the second one.
I asked my friend, who's 20ish daughter got her to read them, what she thought of book three and she told me she didn't finish it because it was like book two. Dark was the word she used, and she mentioned that it was all about Edward and his 'rules for the relationship'. So I got her to tell me, what her daughter had told her about how the series ended.
I'll probably read three and four at some point but I just didn't like New Moon enough to keep going with the series, especially at $20 hardback!
I would be interested to see if they make a second movie and how that turns out; I can't see it being much fun if it follows New Moon's plot closely.
