Step height

Anyone else out there only use a 4 inch step for all of Cathe's workouts? I feel pretty confident with all of Cathe's choreography so I thought I could raise my step to 6 inches, but I couldn't make it through all of RS without dropping back down to 4 the other day. Will I ever be able to raise or is it not important? I'm feeling inadequate:)

I alway use a 6 inch but sometimes when I feel energetic I will raise it to 8 inch. Sometimes when I do the 8 inch I have to change to a 6 inch. For me it just depends on that day. I think you will be able to raise to a 6 inch. Maybe you can start off with a 6 inch and take it from there see how you do. Maybe you have to change back to a 4 inch in the middle of you workout or maybe not. It just depends how you feel on that day. I think it really has to do on how you feel on the day you excerise because it could be of what you ate or how you slept from the night before.

I have bad knees -- it's genetic, and on those days when I'm feeling tired yet still need to work out, I lower my step to 4 inches. I use a Weider step and use only either of two heights, 4 or 6 inches. Most of the time I use 6, and that's as high as I'm willing to go. If it makes you feel any better, I'm still learning RS WITHOUT a step right now :) because with the intricate patterns and all that jumping, I fear I might fall off the step if I don't familiarize myself with the moves beforehand. Hey, as long as you get your heart rate up, you're still getting a good workout. :) Just be patient with yourself.

I just got into stepping last summer. I ONLY use a 4 in. step. I have not felt the need to raise it. I am dripping with sweat just fine!:7
