Step Aerobics and bulking??

Cathe, I am sure this question has probably been asked to death, but I am new to your tapes and can't help but notice, for aerobics you focus mainly on step...I have heard that doing too much step can cause bulking of the thighs (not something I want/need) what is your opinion on this theory?

Hello Bonne! Obviously I'm not Cathe, but I felt I had to reply to this one. Years ago the only cardio I did was step aerobics and yes I had a lot of bulk in my quadriceps area. This doesn't happen to everybody because one of my best friends does step 4-5 days a week and she never gets bulky thighs. Every body is different. I cut down my step aerobics to two times per week (Interval Max and low impact step aerobics) and I added Cardio Kicks at least 2 times per week and a walk/run every once in awhile. And yes it works! I'm going to wait a couple of months after the post holiday gym rush so I can get a gym membership and start taking spinning classes because I hear it helps with that dreaded bulk that pears like me get so easily. My suggestion is to try out different activities and see what happens. If you see that you bulk when you do a lot of step cut down on it. I would never stop doing step aerobics because I really love doing step, but now that I do it less often I'm getting the best results i've gotten since I started exercising.

Does step height contribute to bulky thighs and calves? What step height do u use? Will 6" step height cause heavier legs? What about FIRM videos? Do they slim you even though they use step often? I will await for your reply and thanks in advance!
