Stability Ball

Dear Cathe,
First off, I am so sorry to hear of your injury, and I wish you the best recovery. I have a story that I will put in the 'Success Section' myself, and that I owe my physical well being and look due to your dynamic workouts, filled with challenges and motivation.

My question has to do with the proper muscles that are tightened when using the Stability Ball. I love using this, however, there are different options - apparently - on whether or not the gluteus maximus muscles are tightened (yes, squeezing those cheeks!) when doing say, core exercises, when the lower, middle, or upper part of the spine rests on the ball like doing crunches on it.

I feel you are the expert, Cathe. Are the "cheek" muscles completely relaxed and only the core (abdominal) muscles engaged, or both. I'm of the opinion that some of the "cheek" and thigh muscles should be employed for balance. Help!!! I'd follow your advice before anyone elses, anyday.

Thank you, as always, Cathe!!!
