Damn - I think I sprained my foot!!! It hurts. I feel on wet marble in my apartment lobby and now my foot is ==== something. I've been working out so good this month and finally getting some good momentum. Tomorrow is supposed to be cardio day. Now what do I do?!?!?! Any one have any experience in this space? crap

R.I.C.E.

rest, ice, compression, and elevate.
You'll make everything worse if you try to workout on a hurt foot. I hope you feel better, . . don't worry exercise will still be there in a week when you are recovered. For now just focus on resting and eating clean. Of course you could always do some push ups if you wanted to work on your upper body.

Don't do it!!! Please, please, please promise you will rest and recovery. RICE is a great starting point, some gentle massage.

Let me tell you from personal experience from last year. I spent three months trading off spraining, re-spraining and twisting re-twisting my ankles because I stubbornly refused to follow the doctor's orders and stay the hell off of my feet! In fact, the injury in my left ankle got so bad that I had to have an MRI to make sure there was not some severe ligament or tendon damage. The resutls came back negative. However, it wasn't until I got new orthotics and actually took the necessary time off that my ankles finally healed and now I can workout all I want.

Pretty please with a cherry on top, take some time to recover. You don't want to be down for the count for weeks or months at a time! Trust me- that is a gazillion times more frustrating.

Here's healing hugs and prayers your way!

Thanks guys!! I've set up my weights and I am definintely doing upper body tonight, even if I have to hop around on one foot. Based on walking around at work and to the drug store to get an ace wrap and some ice packs, I've figured out what I can/can not do - what movements hurt. Cardio is definitely out of the question. Oh, crud - that means so are legs - oooh - maybe floor legs I can do this weekend. We'll see. Upper body is going to get good and strong the next couple of days. Oh, and abs - I can do an hour of abs!!! The bonus is that I'm geting my momentum back to where when I realized I injured my foot, my very first thought was "how do I work out." (yea for that!!)

Could I ask where on your foot hurts? I get pain, regularly, down the right hand side of my right foot, between my heel and my little toe. And it's recurring... has been for years. It was originally diagnosed as tendonitis, and got better.. but it's creeping back. IF your pain is in a similar place, although rest and ice is the best thing for it, it benefits greatly from very gentle use. Don't do cardio, but don't go for crutches etc. like I did... the tendons get stiffer
:)
Hope it feels better soon

Yup, it's over on the side. When I fell, my foot/leg kind of folded under me and I fell on it, so the injury is kind of the top of the arch but on the pinky toe side of the foot. I've got it wrapped and I'm staying off it and keeping it up, but I'm walking a bit here and there to keep it "loose." I'll keep it up tonight and take it easy the next couple of days. We're supposed to have a crazy storm the next couple of days so I just have to try to manage to not slip again. haha
