Spinning and bulking??

Hi all,

I just posted a question about purchasing a spin bike, but I have one
further question that I forgot to add to my original post. Does
spinning have a tendency to add bulk to your legs? I mentioned that I
am a runner and I really love what that does for my legs (just can't
take so much impact anymore! My legs do tend to bulk - which I have
finally decreased after starting to run and doing barre work. I'm
afraid that spinning will bulk my legs up again - any thoughts? I keep
trying to check out cyclist legs on the rode ;0 and most seem to have
really tight toned thighs (not too bulky) so do I have any hope???

Road riding is different than riding a spin bike. I don't think the spinning will have that effect. The folks on the road get that shape from riding up hill a lot. I have a friend who did a lot of cycling and she looks great.

My experience w/ spinning

My legs tend to be naturally big, and I found that spinning helped me slim them down. No bulking in my case.

This topic dovetails nicely with mine, about slimming calves. So... spinning slims legs. Hmmm. If I'm riding a bike outside on mostly flat trails that shouldn't bulk up my legs, should it?

Stacey, I would say, "No, it won't bulk your legs." Now, if you were using lots of tension all the time, then, yes if you're prone to bulking.
