Spinervals - what a workout!

I posted this in response to a thread I had started with a question, but I wanted to make sure others saw this. I did my Spinerval Hillacious today - first time I have ever done a Spinerval work - but I love climbing hills. It is a workout! I burned as many calories in the 65 minutes as I do with IMax 3, and I hit my anaerobic threshold about as many times!

These videos are well produced - they have people on regular road bikes on fluid trainers as well as people on spin bikes - the scenery is beautiful (this was the top of the Maryland Science Center overlooking Baltimore's Inner Harbor) and the workout is tough. If you like to cycle or spin, or simply like to sweat I highly recommend these workouts. I literally had to wipe the floor when I was done I had sweat so much. And he has workouts for every level and every passion (sprinting, climbing, racing...), in lengths from 30 minutes to 3 hours (oh my aching butt with that one!)

Christine,

I have seen the other threads where you have posted information on the Spinervals...you have definitely peaked my interest. I am in the process of trying to find out where I can get a "trainer" for my road bike locally. As soon as I do that you'll probably be hearing from me.

Thanks for all the information you have provided on this...

Christine,

I LOVE Spinervals. Those workouts always kick my butt. As a cyclist living in a place that is not winter-cycling friendly, it's great to have workouts that help prepare me for the upcoming season. I would recommend these workouts to anyone looking for a tough cardio session!

Marietta - you can get them at any local bike store, REI or most of the big sporting goods stores. Go with fluid as the wind resistance trainers are NOISEY!!! I had one and ended up buying a fluid trainer.

Susan - Cycling is my sport, but since I got my Aussie, I've been hiking not biking (he loves to hike). I had forgotten how much fun it can be. I like Spinervals because you have the drills of a good spin class, but aimed towards actually bettering your riding. It's a great thing.

Isn't Coach Troy the best? I think he and Cathe cannot be topped! I always think of that song by John Cougar Mellancamp - "you make it hurt so good, come on baby make it hurt so good" when I'm putting in a spinerval w/o. Marnie

I have his first CycleRobx VHS. He was in his early 20's and he had a long pony tail - even then he had no mercy. I'm so looking forward to getting more workouts.
