Curious what shoes do you where while spinning. I have a road bike that I have clip shoes for but really don't want to buy clip pedals for my spin bike. I usually wear my reg workout shoes.

I have Shimano cycling shoes (SH-WF23). I found them on sale last spring for $54. I used them with the toe straps for a couple of weeks and toyed with buying the SPD pedal/cleat system because I really liked having clip in pedals when I did road cycling 20+ years ago. 
(I had LOOK back then.)
At that time, my DH's co worker just happened to switch to a new pedal system and wanted to get rid of his SPDs .... for free! Guess where they are now?
Anyway - my shoes get used heavily 5-6 times a week and they still look and feel brand new.

You need shoes that clip in.

I recommend going to a bike store. They can get you fitted for proper shoes and install the cleats on the shoes.
With all the spinning you do I highly recommend going his route. It mad a big difference for me.
