Speaking of Birth Control...

I have not had my period since having my baby in November. I stopped nursing 3 weeks ago and my period has yet to come back. I want to start the pill...but here is my question: When will it be effective? My pamplet says 1 week, while some people say 1 month.

Any idea? And, should I wait for the sunday after my period to start the pill?

My understanding on the pill is that it is effective 7-10 days after you start using it.

I didn't wait for Sunday to start my pack of pills. I'm a Friday starter. I think they just tell you Sunday because that's usually the "default" marking on the days of the week on the pills. I usually write over those days with a permanent marker. I start Fridays, and I end the active pills on Thursdays. That usually gives me the weekend period-free, and I start either late Sunday night or Monday morning. Lately, usually Monday morning.

Just because you don't have a period doesn't mean that you can't ovulate and release an egg. That's how you hear of some women getting pregnant after giving birth so quickly (happened to a friend of mine).
