Space Bags

I ordered these a while ago, it took forever to get to my house. I finally used them last weekend and every freakin' bag has air in it!! Anyone have these? Am I doing something wrong? It doesn't seem like the things are sealing. I've checked the zip lock part and the cover that goes over the hole that you suck the air out. Very frustrating! Any comments?

Hi Debbie,

Weird, I use them all the time, I actually even have 3 different brands, the ones that have the big metal bar that you have to slide over the open part to seal it, and then it has the hole for the vaccum to suck the air out of then you cap it when your done. Then I have the zip lock kind that has little holes at the end and you just sit on them, to get the air out, I like these the best, as I don't have to get my vacuum out.

First off what did you put in them? Clothes, bed stuff, etc? Some comfortors will actually store air, so you suck it out, leave and look back after a week and their is air. Another thing is make sure you got tha cap on right. I've done it before on the cap kind, I put it on but it's a little bit off, and it will leak air back in. Also make sure you put in the center piece that goes with the cap, and it's facing the right direction. I forgot one, one time and thought it would be okay without it. Well I had the dumb thing expand and lift up my bed. That ended up being a real chore to get out.

Or your bags might have a hole in them I've gotten a set before that every bad had a hole in it. I sent them back got new ones that worked. But do really really check the cap and the zip lock as that stuff can look like it's sealed and isn't, well if your bags are like mine, they it will seal for the main part and then there is just one little tooth that didn't catch, and lets the air back in, and can make you pull out your hair trying to find it, as you really can't see it, the only way I've found it, is pressing finger space by finger space from one end of the zip strip to the other.

Hope that helps,

Kit

Thanks for the responses. Kit, I put mostly sweaters and fleece in these bags. Some are ok, but three of them aren't. I'll check the cap but it doesn't seem like there is a "right" or "wrong" way to put them on, they just kind of go on. I'll recheck them, though.

Thanks again!

I had a similar problem with these. Sometimes it was a hole, and sometimes the bag was just too full and didn't seal properly. Make sure you don't fill above the "fill line" no matter what you put in. And once you vaccuum the air out, listen for leaks to check.
Good luck,
Mattea

Same thing with me. I tried both types (vacuum ones and the sit-on) and they both puffed back up with air. :(
