I am sure this has been discussed before, but has anyone tried the South Beach Diet? I am going to start tomorow. I has slowly been integrating low carb for about one week. Just wondering what anyones results were.
Thanks,
Lizzy

south beach is a great diet. it teaches you to eat healthy. it's NOT, repeat NOT a low carb diet.. but a GOOD carb diet!

once you hit phase 2 you can eat whole wheat spaghetti and breads, brown rice, etc.

be sure to check out prevention.com... they have a great forum and always have the updates (i.e. we can now have bananas in phase 2..!)

I have my DH on this one. He did Adkin's for awhile and lost a lot of weight. He has been able to maintain on Phase two. He does cheat when we go out though. I eat something like this except when I want something I just eat it. It is pretty healthy after phase two. It does allow some lowfat or skim milk products and whole grains. I also am not trying to lose weight. Just maintain and gain definition. I have gotten very used to not eating cookies, which I used to bake all of the time, and no potatoes or white pasta. Bread is something I rarely eat, even the low carb. So when we go out and I slurge it is usually something like cheesecake or fried cheese sticks. I guess I really like cheese:)

Hi there. I tried South Beach a couple weeks ago and lasted 6 days. I honestly don't know how people do it and work out intensely?

I quit after I was driving home from Super Walmart w/my 2 kids in the car and almost passed out while driving. I was on day 5 when this happened and finally caved on day 6. Even though some say this is not a low carb diet I tend to disagree! The fact that you can't have any fruit, any bread, not even any corn during phase I sure seems low carb to me. I was only able to work out 3 out of 6 days while on the diet b/c I knew it would be dangerous if I did. I was dizzy and had absolutely NO energy!

However, all bodies are different! I think the low carb thing just isn't for me!

Good news is I lost 6 lbs during the 6 days and so far have kept it off!

Now I am going back to a true Body For Life diet which works better for me.

Good luck! Let us know how you do!

I had the same exact experience with Phase 1 of SB as what Fitnut described! I totally crashed at day 6 - dizziness and no energy.

I have mentioned previously that I think the diet teaches you how to make better food choices; however, it does not address individual who seriously exercise. If you workout intensely several days a week, you will probably need to modify or skip Phase 1.

Lack of fat, good fat, enough fat, can cause that feeling. Increase fat intake before you increase carbs due to hunger, etc...if that doesn't work, eat more carbs.
