Soot problem - Need help!

Hello everyone,

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me... I have a major soot stain on the white ceiling.... Most of soot comes off by brushing them but still leave dark stain on the ceiling. I have these stain here and there.... If there any clening product that works for this problem? Or do I have to paint the whole ceiling....???? Help me!
 
Hi!! I had the same problem in another house we lived in. I used to take baths with the candle on-so it was in the bathroom. I could not remove the soot so I painted over the area and it blended very well you could not tell it was there. Sorry I hope that helps. Good luck

When you paint, make the first coat using Kilz, (available in most hardware stores)

It will keep the stain from bleeding through again.

I have never dealt with soot stains, but have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? This thing has gotten stains off of walls in my house that nothing else has touched.
