you mentioned the investment you made into platemates. Can you tell me where you bought yours? Do you remember how much they cost?

I got some money from my family for my fortieth birthday in May, and I'm thinking these would be a great investment!

Soosan:

does it matter which ones you get, the donut or the hex? Do they attach equally to iron dumbells?

I have the hex, which attach to my hex dumbbells (3, 5, 8, 15, 20, 25 lbs) as well as to my "rounder" 10 & 12 lb dumbbells (not sure how to descrbe these). I had to replace my rounder 5 lb dumbbells with hexagonal ones because the sides were not flat -- they protruded a bit -- and the hex Platemates didn't stick to them. They work fine on my 10 & 12 lb db's, though, because the surface is larger.

I hope this is clear! Maybe others will chime in w/more info.
