Last night, we just found out that my aunt and uncle (my favorite aunt and uncle, by the way, who just live a half hour away) found their daughter. They had to give her up at birth and started searching for her about 24 years ago, when she turned 16. Adoption search agencies made a match, and Beth came out a week or so ago to meet her parents for the first time!
They had to give her up because they conceived out of wedlock, and back then that was a very bad thing. My grandmother tried to hide my aunt's pregnancy, etc., etc. But it's just a real shame, because they did get married and have had a wonderful marriage, so Beth would have had a really good life with them.
Anyhow, she lives out in California somewhere and has four kids, so now my aunt and uncle all of a sudden have four grandkids, too!
And of course, I now have another cousin, who I definitely want to meet. Kind of fairy-tale-like, huh?
