Snowstorm people, represent!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm not sure how much we got but it looks like around 20 inches so far and more expected today. Some of the drifts are up to my waist. The dogs were practically bured when I took them out today.

How's everyone else doing?

Jen - did they close your office?

SNOW DAY!!!!:)

So far, we only have 8 inches. We had a lot of sleet along with the snow. They are saying maybe another 4 inches today, along with blowing. I hope the sleet has matted down the snow enough to prevent drifting.

DH is shoveling the driveway now, so I can get to work. He and DD have a snow day. Lucky.

Be careful, all who have to drive to work today.

We have an ice/snow mix on the ground here. It's a thin layer but the ice is still falling. x( I'm gonna call my DH in a bit and see how the roads are out there as he's on his way to work right now. I am not going ANYWHERE!!!

We woke up to about 6 inches and the heavy snow is just getting to us. I begged my boss to close the office today if the schools were closed, but he declined and so I have to trek into work....blech! Hopefully the roads will be void of heavy traffic.

Yahooo! Snow day. Why is it that it's so hard to get my kids ready to go to school in the morning, but on a snow day --they're ready with all their stuff on to play outside before 7am!? Go figure.
Enjoy!
Heather

We are in the thick of it. Everything is closed. Looking out I'd have to say we have at least 8-10 inches at this point and steady snow.

DH headed out for his satellite office today in a town east of here. He has a full day of patients. I'm waiting the call to let me know he arrived safely. ( Tammy I'm sure his staff is annoyed with having to drive in too)

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Tammy and Judy...I gotta wonder though if the patients/customers will be willing to trek out in those conditions to keep appointments, etc?

It is funny Wendy-

In our experience some will not miss their appointment for anything and others will cancel.

I kid my DH that he is the Don Juan of the blue hair crowd. His little old ladies LOVE him! Every once in a while I'll get stopped and someone will tell me how their Mom/ Aunt/ Grandma had to go get her hair done before going to their app't to see DH!

LOL Judy! That is too cute! :D

I just called my DH to see how his ride was...TERRIBLE. Someone spun out in front of him on his way in. YIKES! It took him a lot longer to get in then it usually would....

I don't know how much snow we got last night, but we got a ton y'day!! Schools closed y'day & today & my dh's office too!! I'm sure we'll be out playing in it again!! :)

Lot's of snow & ICE, now wind and freezing temps (it's -7 with the windchill this morning) and major power outages!

Last night we had my daughter, her DH , Stepson and son,and my son over because they had no power. They were prepared to spend the night but then around 9:30 their power went back on so they went home. DH was on the way to pick up his mom too when her power went back on. But 100,000 w/o power this morning.
And yesterday a 9 year old girl was out walking her dog when a tree limb fell on her and killed her !!!! (was on the news)

VERY dangerous out there today on the roads and near ANYTHING that has ice on it !!

Everyone please be careful and stay safe!!

We're on the coast, so we just have a dusting so far.... looks like freezing rain outside now, but it's supposed to turn into snow later. The kids still got a snow day though!

It was not that bad - my rules for winter driving:
1) Stay the heck off expressways
2) Drive slow
I have no trouble getting to work today at all. We had maybe 12 inches of snow. Hey, it's winter, it's February - it's gonna snow!

A snow day for the people on these forums is bound to be a fun one. I'm sure LimeCat will be coming up with a few good posers to keep everyone chatting.

Shelley - are they calling in the military to shovel you out? ;)

Sandra

Sandra - I wish! Hunky soldiers shoveling my driveway would be great... but, no, it'll just be me and my hunky SO;) We got completely dumped on, more than anyone around us.

That would be great to have some hotties shovel my driveway!! We have over a foot and it is still snowing...ahhhh...lake effect snow!! It actually looks beautiful! Happy snowday, everyone.

I'm not sure how much snow we got overnight but it is like raining, snowing and icing right now. The weatherman calls it a "wintery mix" No school today! DS said so where are we gonna go today mom! I said uh nowhere. I am not leaving this house!
LD

Not much snow, but lots of ice and sleet. I can't even believe there are people driving in this! My DH works from home, and I take the subway to work, so it doesn't affect us. (Except that my DH is very worried about his son and his wife who live in LI.)

Tig, I really think your DH should come home as early as possible.

I am in Alton, IL - just north of St Louis MO. We got our snow yesterday. It started as rain, then sleet, then snow. We got about 6 to 8 inches at our house. I left work yesterday at noon so I didn't have to drive in it with all the traffic going home. Everyone I'm sure made fun of me after I left but I don't care. They all have trucks and I have a car and I just don't feel comfortable driving in it. It took me 35 mins to make a 10 min drive. The roads aren't bad today just a few slick spots. Everyone stay safe today driving.
