Slow and Heavy Question

Good Morning All!

I did S&H for the first time last week and loved it. I plan to do it again this week but am confused about times. Should I only be doing each body section once a week? I usually do total body strength workouts a few times a week so it seems strange to me to hit it only once a week. But if that's where the results are I'll do it of course!!

So, here is what I am thinking (I have legs in twice because I am doing MIS legs not S&H legs)

S: legs/shoulders/abs
M: cardio
T: chest/back/cardio (abs if I feel like it)
W: legs/cardio
TH: biceps/triceps/abs
F: Cardio
S: Rest

Anyone more knowledgeable have any suggestions/comments? Please feel free to opine :)

thanks!!

Sparrow

I would do S&H just once per week. Go as heavy as you can, and you will NEED the recovery time.

The only suggestion I have to your schedule is to switch legs/shoulders and chest/back. I think it's best to work the chest/back earlier in the week than shoulders (which are also worked when you do chest and back).

Kathryn,

Great idea!

Sparrow,

This is what I usually do:

S: Rest
M: Tri's/Bi's, Legs and Shoulders (shoulder only), Chest/Back and segment from SS doing the Military Presses
T: Leg work: KPC and squats/leg curls or walking lunges and Legs and Glute
W: Rest
T: PUB
F: something similiar to Tuesday, but I always switch things up.
S: My cardio is my yardwork usually for now.

I haven't done much cardio lately, but I want to bulk up more anyways. When it starts to cool down more I will be running again. I will do my running after my strength training.

Your proposed routine looks just fine to me. I have done each S&H muscle group twice per week also, with great results, but my 'week' then is 9 days.

You might prefer to do cardio with bis and tris rather than with legs. That would be a lot of leg work on one day.
