Slim Series like PH?

I have read so many posts about the Slim Series at VF and wondered if anyone on this board likes them? Are they like PH or LL with all the reps? How do they compare to those two? Do they really give results that quick?

I have not done the Slim Series, but I have viewed them. They use much lighter weights than Cathe. I would classify PH or LL as medium weight, medium rep workouts. SS is truly low weight and high rep. She three pound weights, but goes on and on. For the lower body she often uses no extra weight at all. HTH

I'm on my third week of a Slim Series rotation. I would say they are more similar to Legs and Glutes, but still so much different. She uses a lot of reps and you really get that burn so you can barely finish the set. It's continuous as in no resting between anything. She'll do say, 24 or more reps of outer thigh lifts and go immediatley into inner thigh lifts, same with biceps and triceps for example. The heaviest weight I use is 8 pounds. I use 5 the most. Ankle weights are killer, I can't use them on some things. She uses bands in a couple of work outs. The bands are fun and can be a challenge if you want. The music is generic and bland, but not irritating. You can choose to turn it off if you have DVD. If you are in a platue, I think these are a great way to shake things up, because they are so different from Cathe. I've already lost a few pounds and my pants are loose. I've also added on this HIIT http://www.musclemedia.com/training/hiit_table.asp training 3 times a week.

Hope this helps:)

I love the SS! I find them totally different from Cathe. They're just as intense, and I can barely get through them with 5 pound weights. Right now I'm doing a S&H and PUB rotation, but I plan on adding a couple of weeks of SS once this 6 week rotation is over, just to shake things up a bit. They're nothing like any of Cathe's workouts.

I ordered them from Beach Body and didn't have any problems. Either I was lucky, or they've improved their customer service.

Slim Series are a nice change; I don't find them as intense as cathe but they are not easy. You've got to love a lower body workout with no weights and NO LUNGES!!! Also, I found that while I didn't notice any losses in overall strength after doing no cathe and all Slim Series for 5-6 weeks, I did notice loss of strength specifically in my forearms. I think heavy weight training (even such as that in PH) has a secondary effect of keeping the forearms strong.

I also notice that I don't have the same stamina to do big girl pushups anymore. I could never keep up with cathe but I was getting pretty good (I could do probably 20 in a row before) but there are really not alot of pushups in slim series and I lost the knack a bit.

While I was doing slim series, tho, my hands were always sore, so who knows? maybe now that I'm back on a Cathe rotation I'm losing hand strength!!

I have slim series and enjoy it. I didn't think I was hit with the CC problem, but lo and behold I got my statement this month and there is a $19.95 charge so now I am in the process of trying to get it corrected. Only if Amber replies to me. I sent and e-mail to her yesterday but haven't received any response from her yet. Just beware of the credit card. I am thinking about calling the CC company and telling them not to process anything from Beach body.

I bought the slim series a couple of weeks ago. I've done "tear it up" and "cool it off" and tried "keep it up", but they are just very boring and repetitive to me. I don't know exactly why, but I can't make myself do them. I feel like I've wasted my money. But, reading a lot of other reviews they sounded good. I think so much of liking a work out is just personal preference.
Good luck!

Thanks for your replies! They are highly appreciated. There are a lot of mixed reviews on them. Plus with the CC problems that show up maybe I will wait until they show up elsewhere than Beach body.

If Beach body puts extra charges on your card that were not warranted, you simply need to call your CC company and initiate the dispute process. They will immediately remove the charge from your card and contact and company to provide proof of why they charged you. That is the beauty of buying things with your credit card on=line and over the phone. (I don't think debit cards come with that same type of protection.)
