Skip the protein shake?

Hi,

I recently injured my foot and am not supposed do any heavy weight work for my lower body so I've mostly been doing ankle weight work from B&G and L&G. I also have a bench and do work in a few hamstring curls and leg raises with moderate weight. My question is whether you think I should avoid drinking a protein shake on these days since I'm not really lifting heavy. I certainly get a great burn from the ankle weights, but I don't know if it's enough to warrant additional protein in my diet.

Thanks in advance!

Trish

Hey Trish!! I'm in the same boat as you, I managed to drop my laptop on my foot Sat night!!! I don't think I broke my toe, but it's VERY bruised, swollen, and painful. I've been doing the floorwork from B & G, will do L & G, PLB abs, etc. No running or IMAX's for me for a while. UGH!

I made a protein shake for dinner last night, just sounded good and I've had sick kiddos so it was quick to make!

Take care, I'm feeling your pain!! What did you do to injure your foot?

Hi Jess!

So sorry to hear about your mishap;(. Have you been to a doctor to make sure it is not more serious? I injured my foot about 4 weeks ago while doing 4DS - I slid/stepped off the step..sometimes I get a little too excited when doing a new routine;-)

But the worst part is that I received my shipment of Drill Max, Body Max2, 4DS and B&G on a friday and on saturday, this happened. You can't imagine the torture I felt not being able to try out my new Cathe DVDS..;( But then again...you probably can imagine}( Initially my podiatrist thought it was a stress fracture, but a bone scan showed nothing. My biggest problem is that I start to feel better for a few days and start doing some LB exercises and the next day the pain is back **SIGH**!!!

So, do you think you will still drink protein shakes? Maybe I should only have it as a meal replacement. Right now I have it following my 4:30AM workout and then have breakfast...probably not too smart, huh?

Trish

Thanks, Trish! Believe me, I felt soooo stupid when it happened!!! No, I haven't been to the Dr. I can wiggle my pinky toe, but my whole top of my foot and even the bottom is bruised. UGH! Ouch on sliding off the step!!

Oh, no! Not being able to try out new DVD's?? Stick to the legs & butt work and upper body, that's what I'm doing. I can do pushups w/ my shins on a small ball so I don't have to flex my foot. I guess we'll just have to learn to take it easier??

I just usually add 1/2 scoop of protein powder to my oatmeal, I prefer to chew my food rather than drink it. ;-) Hope you're feeling better soon!

That's a great idea on the push ups..I've been doing them on my knees and it's just not enough of a challenge. I will try the ball out next time.

Feel better, too :)
