Shrinking Violets - Mar.11-14

Hi everyone one.

This morning I got up early (even with the time change) and got in a 10 min warm up on the TM and then was planning on doing GS legs. Unfortunately, when we rearranged the game room (see yesterday's post) we didn't hook the DVD player up the same way so I couldn't figure out how to get it to play. Dh was already at work (went in at 4:30 arrgh) so I tried the VCR and it worked. I ended up doing the FitTV version of L & G's. First lower body weight workout in over a week, so I may have some serious doms. Those glute presses usually kill me.

Heather, the white trees I believe are Bradford Pears. They don't really produce pears, but they are so pretty when they blossom. In the fall they are one of the few trees up this direction that actually change into pretty fall colors instead of just turning brown. I wanted one or two for our yard and DH said "why would I want a tree covered in blossoms with my allergies?" He had a pretty good point, so I just get to admire the ones in the neighborhood. I wish I knew what the purple blossom tree is. There aren't very many of them around here. As for the blue bonnets, I hope we have a better year this spring. Last year there were very few around. Maybe due to the drought that we had last year.

I better get going. I've got a lot to get done today. Church, done; dog park, done; laundry, washed but not folded. Still to do, fold clean clothes, clean house, grocery store, work on tax stuff.

Today was my rest day and completes week 9 of the X. :+ }( :+ It's a good thing too cause I had a pretty wild night last night and got very little sleep. :eek: }( :7 I could not have worked out today if my life depended on it! LOL I'm exhausted...I'm going to bed! Talk to everyone in the morning!:)
 
Shrinking Violets Check-in

This was my rest day. I needed it after losing an hour last night. I finally settled down and got to sleep at 2:00 a.m. when the time changed to 3:00 a.m. After my Bible study this morning, I took a long nap and started sorting through my collection of workout shoes. I pulled them all out of the closet and other hiding places and discovered that I have 22 pairs of workout shoes! No wonder I do not have room to store all of them! Now that I have an extra pair of the Reebok cross training shoes that I love, I need to take some of the other shoes to the consignment shop or donate them to charity. I would like to get my collection down to a respectable dozen! I need an intervention!

A Ya Ya friend called me this afternoon, and we had a delightful conversation as always. I finally went to the grocery store in a storm tonight. The spring showers and storms have arrived. I need to pack my meals and snacks for tomorrow and start winding down before bedtime.

I am planning to venture into the Gym Styles this week. I am not sure if I will do the whole Gym Style Legs workout in the morning or just the standing portion after cardio.

Jean, thank you for starting the new thread for us. I love those trees. Interestingly enough, I do not have spring allergies. Flowers and pollen do not bother me at all. I am allergic to cedar (in January) and mold. Dust bothers me too, which is why I had an attack after the dust storm hit 2 weeks ago. I am feeling great now. I actually feel my personal best in April, so I am looking forward to it.

Wendy, please share about your wild night! I am curious! I hope you get some sleep tonight.

I don't feel all the great today. I did 30 min on the TM. I wanted to do more, but was beat. I might be able to squeeze in some yoga before bed. I could really use it. I did enjoy my protien shake tonight though.

Wendy, sounds like an awesome time!! I put your DVD in the mail this morning. Sorry I didn't do it last week. You should have it shortly! Thanks again.

Heather- hope the storms aren't going on anymore down there! Saw on the news this morning that you guys were getting some good thunder storms.

Well I was sooo NOT in the mood for heavy lifting today so I skipped my X work out for the day and went to the gym and ran instead. 3.5 miles thanks to an Itread work out. }(

I will arrange my schedule to make sure I get all of my X work outs in this week, I promise!:)
 
Shrinking Violets Check-in

This day did not go according to plan. It was a Monday all day long. It started when a Texas-size bug decided to invade my sleep space shortly after midnight. Once the cockroach was safely confined to my vacuum cleaner cannister, I finally settled down and got to sleep around 2:00 a.m. I forgot to change my alarm clock over the weekend. Needless to say, I did not naturally wake up at 4:00 a.m. With the later sunrise, I did not wake up until 20 minutes before it was time for me to be at work! Eek! Thankfully, this week is spring break around here. My boss was scheduled to be out of town. I got dressed in record time, pulled my hair up in a clip, brushed my teeth, grabbed my makeup bag, and flew out the door. There was no traffic this morning, so I made it to work in record time (without breaking any laws).

It goes without saying that I did not get to spend any time in Bible study or prayer before I went to work. On top of that, I did not get to do Gym Style Legs or any workout for that matter this morning. To add fuel to the fire, it is PMS time. I am caught in a hormonal hurricane, my normally dry skin is unusually oily and breaking out as a result, I feel fat and bloated, and I am so emotional. I did not need to miss my Bible study and my workout this morning!

I was planning to do my workout right after work, but I got halfway home and realized that I forgot to do something. I returned to the office and finally made it home in time to start my workout at 8:00 p.m. I decided to skip Gym Style Legs and do the Low Max step premix. I bounced on my rebounder for a few minutes too. I am frustrated that my week is already off track, but I ate clean today. I feel better after my Cathe cardio fix too! I need to get more sleep tonight. Hopefully, I will have more energy in the morning. It may take a few days to adjust to the time change.

It was a beautiful day in Central Texas. I can praise God for that! I am hungry and need to refuel my body before I call it a day. I still need to pack my meals and snacks for tomorrow too. I may do a Kick Max premix in the morning and wait until Wednesday morning to start with the Gym Styles.

Wendy, I know what you did Saturday night! ;-) I peeked at the Cheetah’s thread for all the details! Believe it or not, I visit men’s clubs once a year. Are you surprised? It is a mission trip. I am on a ministry team with several other girls from my church. We do outreaches to women in the adult entertainment industry. For the last few years, we have delivered Easter bags to the dancers on Good Friday. We are hoping to expand our ministry to street work so we can include prostitutes and drug addicts. I am not sure if I will be on the club team or the street team this year. The girls love us so much. :) They literally jump for joy when we arrive. :7 We have developed good relationships with the owners and managers of the clubs in town. They give us full access to the clubs, including the dressing rooms. Last year, they had the DJ announce our arrival on the loudspeaker and tell the dancers to meet us in the locker room! Is that wild or what?! They rolled out the red carpet for us church girls! :7 And, no, we did not take the church van on this little field trip! ;) I am already praying for the girls. I look forward to seeing them again on Good Friday. :) They are living a hard life. :-( Some of them dance when they are 8 months pregnant if you can imagine that. :eek:

Hi there Violets.

Well today I got up early and went upstairs to workout. Forgot that the DVD player wasn't hooked up so I opted for Stepblast (FitTV version). The room still is not completely set up and my puzzle mats would not stay put. Got tired of rearranging them so I jumped on the TM.


Heather, sorry your day didn't go as planned. Don't beat yourself over it. Forgiving oneself is very therapeutic. At least you had beautiful weather to help you through your day. It was so dark and gloomy here this morning. I wasn't sure the sun would ever make it out.

Maeghan, hope you are feeling more energitic. Did the yoga help?

Wendy, a bachelor party? I missread it as a bachelorette party until Heather's post. Very interesting. One time, our radio station had a lady (in her 20's) call in who had gone to a "club" with some girlfriends and she saw her dad there. Luckily he had't seen her. She wanted advice on whether she should confront him about it.

Well I better get to bed. Hope everyone gets a good night rest. Sounds like we all need it.

Jean, I don't get what the big deal was if her dad was there besides embarrassing for her to see him in a place like that. Different strokes for different folks I guess, right? :) That was my first experience at a bachelor party AND a gentlemen's club so to speak. It was a group of 4 girls and like 8 guys. Such a good time. Men know how to party! LOL }( I also enjoyed people watching in the club. I've always been curious as to how men act/react in a place like that. They are actually not the bunch of animals I had envisioned! LOL

Okay, I have one of X weight work outs on tap for today as well as ARX.

Oh, btw, I finally did my measurements for the beginning of phase 3 this morning. My calves waist and back are down. My weight is down. My bmi is down yet my body fat is up??? I can understand why it would go up cause my eating has not been the greatest but for it to go up while weight and bmi went down just seems odd. The rest of my measurements are the same. I am very happy with what I see in the mirror and my pants have been fitting looser. The X is AWESOME!!!!}(

Wendy, the girl on the radio call's deal was she didn't know if her mother know that her father went to places like that. So she didn't know if she should tell her mom or approach her dad or leave it be. Wonder what she decided?

I'll admit, I've been to one (besides the ones I used to work out, just kidding, that would have to be in a different life and a different body). I was surprised that the club was classier than I expected. Of course, I'm sure there are some seedy ones too. My problem when I went was I had to use the restroom and the only one for girls was in the dancer dressing room. I felt uncomfortable having to walk back there.

Great news on the X results. Maybe the FB was just a fluck. Take it again in a week and see. Which method are you using?

Oh dear Jean...having to go into the dressing room!?!? LOL, I would have been uncomfy too. This place had a woman's restroom but it certainly didn't stick out like the men's did! LOL Thanks re my results. I use the omron bf monitor. I don't worry about the actual #, just the difference from measurement to measurement. I am sure my BF went up cause my eating was not up to par for the month but then my BMI should not have gone down!?!? Maybe I will take it again in a week like you said and see what happens! Thanks!:)

ETA: UNLESS....is it possible that even though I ate poorly causing my bf to go up that I made more gains in muscle which offset the bf causing the bmi to go down anyway??? Does that sound feasable or am I crazy??? LOL :p

Wow am I sore from doing one of Billy Blanks older taebos! i can't believe I never opened it! My butt and abs are killing me!! I guess it is kind of good huh? But today I will be doing a circuit w/o and have SJ&P in mind. Lord help me!!

Shrinking Violets Check-in

This was a better day. The time change is still kicking my butt, but I am adjusting. I woke up early enough for a short quiet time, and I had time to wash my hair before work this morning. My boss returned to the office today. It was a relatively peaceful and productive day. My eating was not as good as it has been because I was too tired to pack my meals and snacks last night, but it was not all that bad either.

Cathe responded today that she is very close to sharing the Road Trip dates. She is waiting to hear from the hotel first. I am excited! I hope my Ya Ya and Cathe friends can join me for a weekend party in New Jersey! Cathe also alluded to the fact that she will be posting a formal announcement about filming her next set of workouts as soon as she firms up the details. I am still hoping for a Rhythmic Step 2!

After a conversation with a Ya Ya friend, I did the Kick Max warm-up, kick and punch combinations, and stretch then bounced on my rebounder just for fun. A short and gentle workout was all I had the energy for tonight. I want do Gym Style Legs in the morning, so I skipped the leg conditioning drills. I am tired and decided to opt for a short workout and get to bed at a decent hour tonight.

Wendy and Jean, I would much rather hang out with the dancers in the dressing room than be out on the floor while they are performing! It is a much more comfortable environment. It is no different than the locker room at the fitness club. Actually, the dancers are more modest than some of the women at the fitness club. Many of the dancers actually wear robes or some other cover when they are not dancing, but some of the women at the fitness club prance around in the nude while putting on their makeup, drying their hair, etc. I do not understand why they do not cover themselves because the towel service is free. Everyone is handed a towel at the front desk. Wendy, are the women like that at your gym?

Hi everyone.

Forced myself out of bed, would really like to have stayed there all day. This morning I wanted to do a lower body circuit type workout, so I choose LIC lower body pre-mix. It wasn't what I thought it would be. Very little actually lower body weight work. I did the step part with 2 risers for this first time, so I got in a great cardio workout and didn't even break an ankle.

Tomorrow we'll be going to the CheeseCake Factory to celebrate DD's birthday. I'm not crazy about the large portions, so hopefully I can find a salad that will make a good choice. She'll be 20. Oh, boy am I starting to feel old. I decided to pass on eating out for my birthday. Just don't feel like doing back to back dinner's out. I guess that's a major improvement, because I used to love to eat out. Now if I could just learn to pass on all the sweets. This has been one big sugar week. Although I have actually been able to control myself and not over, over indulge. Normally if I am around sweets, I will just keep going back for 2nds and 3rds etc. But this time, I just sampled and did not return to devour more.

Today was my extra leg day so I did BBC Butt and Legs. Great work out for just 30 mins! I was sweating and my legs and butt were burning...what more could a girl ask for?? }( ;)

My gym does not have a towel service. I have seen women strip at the lockers and run bare-butt to the showers though and I gotta wonder why myself. The shower stall is in a large bathroom stall so there is plenty of room to undress/re-dress in there. I use the showers on occasion and just bring my bag in with me. I walk in fully clothed and walk out fully clothed. Some folks come into the gym in street clothes if they come from work and get changed into thier work out clothes in the locker room and change in the open. That I understand. The shower thing I just don't get because there is plenty of room right there to get undressed. I guess some folks don't care...it IS all women in there after all but I guess I just don't feel comfortable doing that when I know I don't have to...

I just did PUB up only premix and abs, and I went for a walk pushing a double stroller today with my friend!! Gotta go get some grub!
